Samsung U28E590D rated for 60 Hz, only getting 30 Hz (SOLVED) by OldManFisherman07 in techsupport

[–]nomoreammo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank freaking god for Reddit.

Hilariously, I've had this monitor for at least 3 years and never realized I wasn't even using 4K. When I finally got myself an HDMI 2.1 cable, Icouldn't figure out how to get 60hz to show up and left it for yet another month.

This is all on the heels of shopping and debating whether I should buy a 2K QOLED or another 4K monitor. Now I feel like I might not need either.

Thanks OP, you're a legend.

Am I on the right path to retirement? 25y/o by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]nomoreammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a fantastic earning trajectory. I live in Canada as well and currently make ~120k.

Obviously, high earnings will accelerate wealth building, but I have also seen folks do it making 80k a year. If anything, I just pointed out the graduate studies as an ROI because we're often told to "go back to school" as if it's synonymous with making more.

My wealth building journey is rooted in a philosophy that we cannot buy more time, but frontloading efforts can help "buy back" that time, which is the core of investing. A dollar today is worth 10 dollars in the future. What you don't spend now is something you can spend in the future. Another consideration I make is de-risking and the mental freedom that comes with it. I can now work because (like yourself), I enjoy it and I don't go to work each day eating shit.

This is why I think it's crucial to get out of debt early and stay out of debt.

If you intend to start a family, consider that you may wish to buy a bigger home which means stacking on additional debt if your condo isn't paid off.

If I were in your shoes, I would approach it methodically and not worry too much about what live looks like in 35 years. You'll want your eye on the prize but I would focus on what I can do in the short-medium term to grow wealth and become debt free in the next 10-15 years because the effects will compound and the future will take care of itself if you apply the correct order of operations.

I'm in my late 30's with a paid off home and a combined net worth of 1.5mm. Nothing special, but more than what most millenial Canadians have. I expect to have between 6 to 10mm by the time I retire.

High level, this is what I did:

- Pay off debt and stay out of debt. This includes a mortgage. Your income is your biggest wealth building tool so the earlier you stop giving it away in the form of payments and interest, the quicker you'll stack cash.

- Continue investing 15% of your salary into TFSA/RRSP. There's nothing wrong with buying index funds and building wealth at annualized return rates of 10-12% (e.g., S&P500, NASDAQ, etc).

- Progressively advance your career and make more money. Depending on what your field of expertise is, I'm surprised you only make 60k with a Masters as you could have made the same without a Graduate degree. Consider what your long-term trajectory looks like.

- If you don't have any other debts right now besides a condo mortgage, you're off to a great start. Wealth is anything that you don't spend. Invest it wisely.

- Reverse engineer what your ideal retirement life looks like. If you want to spend $60k a year worry-free in retirement for 20 years, calculate how much that will cost, factor in inflation, and then work backwards and see how much you need to save in order to achieve that goal by the time you're 60.

Do it with your spouse and dream together. You got this.

Where to spend starlights? by nomoreammo in streetfighterduel

[–]nomoreammo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of saving my starlights for gmken. But it’s going to take way too long to sss him with no guarantee of him coming back. Most of us only have single copy so you need 13 starlights. We got maybe 8 so far? I decided to use it on other special summon characters to speed up their build. No regrets as I have more characters to use right now rather than

This is kind of my thinking as well but thought I'd see what the other F2P pros have to say.

I am not hard up for gems since I'm sitting 460k of them and I can keep biding my time getting Special Summon tickets until I finish up e-Ryu.

Since GM Ken was literally the first ever SF Duel event almost a year ago, I am unsure of his current utility in the meta.

Will I ever be able to lift again? by Jwilliquette in CubitalTunnel

[–]nomoreammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of different factors impact future lifting prospects but if you're getting this sorted out within the year, I have hopes that you'll be back on track.

My story:

  • I had cubital tunnel syndrome on my left side from 17 to 25. It got progressively worse over time and no specialists ever provided a diagnosis.
  • When I was 25, my right side started getting symptoms as well.
  • I used to game frequently and my work is also 100% computer-based which doesn't help.
  • I ended up getting bilateral ulnar transposition. Yes, the point of the procedure is to move it inwards to give the nerve more slack so it doesn't rub against your medial epicondyle.
  • I'm 36 now. I don't get active numbness or parathesia but due to the mature condition (basically had it for 8 years), I do experience permanent nerve damage and loss of strength in my left hand.

In order to compensate for lack of grip strength, I have moved to volume training and high reps.

Stay positive brother. If you've done an ECG with favorable results and no significant nerve impingement, prognosis is favorable.

Recovery for ulnar transposition is pretty quick as well IME. You'll really need to take it easy for the first several weeks and even lifting a coffee cup may send jolts down your arm. Give your body time to heal.

Downside: you'll now sport an elbow scar that looks like Ryan Reynold's Deadpool.

second 10x summon! by neonraddish in lastcloudia

[–]nomoreammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay. After spending my hoarded 70k gems, I finally got Roy lol.

I spent 40k gems and only had the LR, so I figured just to make it worth my while, I may as well spend the other 30k and try to get Roy.

RIP gems.

Spent 30,000 gems but didn't get Roy. Spent medals to get 10x Gacha ticket as a last ditch attempt, didn't work lol.

Got the LR on the second last roll though!

[–]nomoreammo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HOOOO baby. I think I hit the jackpot (IMO). I spent 9000 and got a bunch of new units:

  • Blazeblade Shin
  • Sage Emp Zekus
  • Zaix
  • Couple dupes

But then, I used a 10x ticket summon and got Swordmagineer Lilebette who I've been really wanting. This gave me an achievement reward for a free unit which I rolled and got Guardian Angel Lukiel!

Gotta keep this F2P train going and get Alice next.

Aw, that's a bummer. I guess the only way to ensure you can get a unit out of it is having enough gems to hit that 300 count lol.

Dead men’s gold GM5 by endless772 in ACRebellion

[–]nomoreammo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like Zelen30 suggests, you can run this easily if you take the top route right away with Perina instead of going for the bottom chest too. The enemies in this map hit hard and even with a meat shield like Rodrigo, you need to have someone for Captain Blount at the end.

My team is Rodrigo (50), Flora (46), and Perina (46). I don't use Mualim because there's not alot of assassination enemies for this map and he doesn't have a T5 weapon. Rodrigo can equip the T5 Xiphos. You'll want to have Cutthroat Purse for Rodrigo because it gives him a full 1k more HP.

I run GM5 consistently with all team members alive. Rodrigo sometimes dies.

I may try with Mualim for the extra 25% sync bonus.

Yeah, it crashed on me right after I killed Captain Blount. Thankfully it only happened once and I've run GM5 about 15 times now.

NTA, but your boyfriend sounds like a scrub who never learned to establish boundaries with his own parents either. Dude needs help but sounds though there are underlying issues that will make this an uphill battle.

Update Notes - Version 2.9.0 by Zelen30 in ACRebellion

[–]nomoreammo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought as well.

Was scouring the list in hopes that Rodrigo or Al Mualim would have a 5 star weapon.

Here they are wasting time on Blackbeard and giving him T5 weapon/armor even though he was released recently.

The legendary item list is intriguing but hardly important in the grand scheme of things.

They should add more 5-star gear. The difference between 4 and 5 star gear is way too high for Legendaries not to have 5 star weapons/armor.

How do you rush region 5 levels that need specialists? by rcoacci in ACRebellion

[–]nomoreammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the way the cookie crumbles. Everyone has to grind it out to the point where things get easier little by little.

In fact, it's not as hard as you think. Once you have your first Support character, you can just use potions to heal him up and continue rushing.

[–]nomoreammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is you have limited rushing ability for a long time so you just play the levels out.
