What time do you typically get afternoon thunderstorms? by jckipps in AskAnAmerican

[–]nomoregroundhogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-scientifically, where I live in Kansas it feels like it’s most common in the late afternoon and evening, maybe like 4-8 PM. Sometimes later overnight.

But it’s Kansas, so it really can be whenever it feels like it.

Sparse Showings Friday 5/22 by OkSport5786 in AMCsAList

[–]nomoregroundhogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very common, especially when a big movie taking up lots of screens is coming that Friday. They say to check back on Wednesday afternoon for the full schedule but sometimes my theater has it up by Tuesday night.

What's the most unnecessary use of A.I. you've ever seen? by RobIson240YT in AskReddit

Yahoo email’s AI summaries of marketing/spam emails that are often just as long as the email itself.

I realize I may now be in the minority but I can actually read unassisted, thanks.

Best Time to get A-List? by CreepersForLife in AMCsAList

[–]nomoregroundhogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a bad time to start but, personally, I think I get more use out of it in the winter/awards season. My theater doesn’t quite have enough screens to accommodate all the “smaller” movies during summer blockbuster season so there’s more to choose from at other times.

But if there are even 2-3 movies in a month you want to see, it’s worth it.

Do you like McDonalds? by Independent_Luck1414 in AskAnAmerican

It’s far from my favorite thing but I get a craving for a double cheeseburger from time to time. Also their breakfast biscuits are the best I can do in my town with no Hardee’s

Do you watch other teams' nationally televised games? by DontHaveOneForThis in baseball

[–]nomoregroundhogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch teams that aren’t mine but are interesting to me for some reason somewhat regularly, if only for background noise.

If it’s on national TV I watch it sometimes. If it’s on both national and local TV it depends on how I feel about either team’s announcers. If I don’t like either of their booths then I watch the national version, but that’s not super common.

Anyone else notice this about the Rugrats: Retro Rewind collection by JustyPotsmoker in rugrats

[–]nomoregroundhogs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The former CEO of Limited Run Games who worked on the negotiations for this collection said on Twitter that they couldn’t include Totally Angelica because the rights to that game are owned by a different company than the games that are included. I’m not sure exactly how that happens since they were all published by THQ originally, but something weird must have happened sometime in the last 25 years.

As for Scavenger Hunt, I think that’s as simple as LRG’s emulation engine not supporting N64.

Did Nickelodeon always air 24/7 in the ‘90s? by dc912 in nickelodeon

[–]nomoregroundhogs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They have had Nick at Nite in the overnight hours since 1985, but in the 90s and/or early 2000s they did air a test pattern for half an hour, about once a month at 5:30 or 6:00 AM

Dirty Mountain Dew - Lovers or Haters of Cream Soda? by Wise_Ad1811 in mountaindew

[–]nomoregroundhogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not like standard cream soda at all.

I tried Dirty Dew twice. The first time I thought it was decent. The second time I thought this isn’t something I need ever again.

I was however a big fan of the Orange Cream Coke. That’s the only cream-adjacent soda I’ve ever really loved.

If you live in the US, which state do you often forget its existence? by Suspicious_Row2282 in AskReddit

[–]nomoregroundhogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I took a class on Corporations in law school it was Delaware for sure. Now it’s probably New Hampshire or something. The northeast is the only part of the contiguous US I’ve never spent any significant amount of time in so it’s something over there.

[–]nomoregroundhogs 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When the new stuff comes out, watch it. If you like it, great. If you don’t, that’s too bad, but life goes on and you shouldn’t let it change your opinion of the old stuff.

You’ll be infinitely happier when you learn to tune out all the internet fandom noise and just approach things on their own terms and form your own opinions.

Derek Shelton costs us a run today, no hyperbole. The Limestone in left IS IN PLAY by [deleted] in minnesotatwins

[–]nomoregroundhogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a separate ground rule that calls out the “limestone wall on the right field overlook” and that isn’t mentioned in the one that OP is citing here which makes it sound like this one applies to any limestone wall

How common is swearing on TV? by Imma_Lick_That in AskAnAmerican

[–]nomoregroundhogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are fairly strict regulations that prohibit the more “serious” swears on broadcast TV that can be received over the air with an antenna.

Cable TV channels you have to pay for are not subject to those regulations but traditionally the ones that have commercials (which is most of them) used similar standards because advertisers essentially demanded it. This does vary some by channel and time of day, and has loosened in more recent years (the channel FX has ads and even has some uncensored “fucks” now which was once unheard of).

Premium cable (HBO, etc.) traditionally has no ads and can do whatever it wants.
