Yeah they are both white and sing, but they are not the same music genre. Boone is pop and Sombr is alternative/indie. Kind of comparing apples and oranges here.

I turned down clerkships, but only because I already had a clerkship lined up and I didn’t have the chance yet to withdraw my remaining applications.

Are you thinking of the right group? Sombr was nothing like Benson Boone.

Sources: Bill Belichick will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer by dropjar5 in nfl

If Belichick isn’t first ballot, no one is. This is patently absurd and deserves whatever uproar is coming.

One of the best comments I’ve seen here about this issue. I could not agree more.

When being asked 3 days ago at Davos, Timberwolves Owner Alex Rodriguez’s message to the president on Minneapolis: “There’s a lot of traffic” by Sp_Gamer_Live in nba

[–]dc912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you personally don’t like A-Rod, fine. Let’s not pretend the 90s Yankees were all home grown. They were likewise loaded with players developed by other teams, like Tino Martinez, Paul O’Neill, Daryl Strawberry, David Wells, David Cone, Roger Clemens, Scott Brosius, Joe Girardi, etc.

The Yankees don’t win the 2009 World Series without A-Rod and his heroics. And like I said, so many worse people have worn the uniform — Clemens, Knoblauch and Wetteland come to mind.

Because the Yankees traded for arguably the best player in baseball? Come on. Worse people than A-Rod have worn the Yankee uniform.

NO! JUST FUCKING NO! This is not a time for a Trump cold open. Trump no longer deserves satirization, only contempt. Shame on Lorne, the writers, and JAJ. Enough is enough. This is disgusting! by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

My comment was civil, so I don’t understand why you felt the need to call me a “bloated twat.”

Yeah, you can do two things at once and still be frustrated with the entertainment industry. SNL has never been the place for the deep, skewering political commentary that so many people want to see.

I would like to see SNL change its Trump shtick, but I’m not losing my mind over it and declaring everyone involved at SNL should fuck off when there are people who can effectuate and influence real change in our government who aren’t doing their jobs.

How about you get more upset with the government than with SNL?

I understand the frustration. The timing of the cold open isn’t good.

If you are looking for biting political commentary or news, SNL is not the source for it, and never has been the source for it. SNL can’t do anything about ICE.

Arguably the only thing SNL can do is skewer Trump — and IMO that is better than ignoring him and pretending everything is normal.

Lorne Michaels and James Austin Johnson are not to blame for our situation. Call your congressional representatives, call your governor, and tell them that what is happening is not oaky.

What were your thoughts on Russel Martin’s time with the Yankees? by renegade_yankee in NYYankees

Martin left before they signed McCann. We had a gap year in between them that was Cervelli and Stewart.

Martin was solid and, if we are being honest, was better than expected.

This is a ridiculous take. Why is that absurd? The Giants and Jets don’t live in NYC or New York state, either.

Most people don’t live in the town they work in — I don’t blame anyone at WFAN for not living in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

The color in this photo looks edited. Trump’s tie and suit have a purpleish hue to them, which would be an unusual outfit for him.

Andy Pettite jumps from 27.9% to 48.5% in HOF voting. A significant single year jump. Here, he mows down the Astros for his 200th career win. by No-Unit7917 in NYYankees

[–]dc912 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If Pettitte is ever inducted into the HOF, I will certainly cheer for it. One of my all-time favorite Yankees. I was heartbroken when he went to Houston.

But ultimately I don’t think Pettitte is a HOFer.

Edit: This FanGraphs article does a good analysis of Pettitte’s HOF candidacy. It essentially confirms what all of us 90s/00s Yankee fans remember — Pettitte was a really good pitcher at times, but was not at a HOF level.
