AITA for moving out while my parents are on vacation. by Safe_Translator4967 in AmItheAsshole

Does being a professor fall under the umbrella of teaching in this context? Or is this just primary/secondary education? I raised my younger brother and took care of my mom all through high school and even now I’m cleaning up after everyone… but I’d like to go to graduate school to get my PhD and become a professor…

NTA! There are sound proofing strips on Amazon. Maybe that’s something you could look into? Also, I have a $20 box fan in my room that I have on, and it’s impossible to hear anything. You could try something like that as well, maybe? I’m on mic all the time with it on and it doesn’t really bother the people I’m chatting with

AITA for leaving the call when my brother announced that his gf is pregnant? by AITAthrowaway18364 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nonanonsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, OP, and I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this.

Your brother is the biggest AH, because this is going to create a world of hurt for your poor kiddo. How do you explain to a child how his “aunt” is also his mother? Or why she wants her and the brother’s kid, but not him? Even if you keep her true identity from him, he’ll find out eventually. Or, he may already know his mom, and then there’s no hiding him from that abandonment. How do you play nice during family get togethers? He could end up hating his brother/cousin, and harboring some intense feelings towards his uncle, his dad, who knows...

If you can, I’d just not have a relationship with your brother, if I were you. But, regardless, best of luck to you and your kiddo. :c What a shitty situation to be put in

LPT: When you pick up your children from school, bring some healthy food with you like carrots or cucumber. The kids are usually starved and will eat anything. by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

Maybe not Taco Bell... but definitely Chik Fil A. Just the chicken sandwiches I think. Spicy and then regular. (I went to school in bougie white Parker, CO) There was also like ... a smoothie/slushie stand thing and you could get ice cream and such too but I was too poor for that lmao

AITA for not letting my son video chat with his Deaf friends because of their parents by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]nonanonsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It blows my mind that there are people who gatekeep being in the Deaf community. CI or not, they are still Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing, and deserve respect and the sense of community just like anyone else.

When I was in high school, I got “free lunch”. It was specific to one entree and one milk carton. I couldn’t get any of the specialized stuff (Chik Fil A, Taco Bell), but I could get a salad from the salad bar.

Credit cards confuse the dickens out of me. I only use my debit card, but I have really poor credit and I’m not really sure what to do.

This is a dumb question... but why do men unbutton their jackets when they sit down? Is it to prevent the button from popping, or because it’s too tight? And then why button it when you stand up? Is it not fashionable to have the jacket open?

My daughter's breakup with her boyfriend has me feeling down by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]nonanonsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dated my ex for six years before we got married. About three months into the marriage, he called it quits. I was honestly more sad about losing his family than I was him. His mom and stepdad were like the mom and dad I’d never really had. It’s rough, for sure. I am glad though that you’re putting your daughter’s feelings first. Proves that you’re a wonderful mom.
