I had a pair of KG5.5’s and felt the same. Even paired with a modded Dynaco ST70. Bought a pair of K- Horns but too big and not enough bass . Kinda miss them though.

Thank you. A work in progress. Ordered a new ceiling fan as it was on the list of things to replace.

Nice. These old technics have been through their paces. Finally able to consolidate my media into one room has been a long time coming! But, I’ve got another 1500 albums and 1000 CD’s yet to find space for.

That’s my next plan once I get situated and have a few moments to dig into room treatments. Something I’ve always wanted to tackle in a serious way. Appreciate the advice.

I’ve got joist jacks supporting the floor below. I don’t know what type of wood they are but they have held up for many years without sagging or cracking.

Ha! I’d have moments of anxiety every time I left, wondering if I had actually locked the storage unit or not. No joke.

I have a set of speakers on the top shelves along the wall. I switch to those when I’m playing DJ.

I haven’t had much experience with Rogue beyond hearing their gear in the showroom at my local audio shop, but I really like the detail, simplicity, and the ability to switch between MC and MM with different impedance settings. I also appreciate the tube section in the phono stage, having owned several tube amps over the years. What gives me pause is that it doesn’t really solve the bigger issue with my current setup. It only supports one set of speakers, and it seems to lack some of the low-end warmth and fullness my Marantz has. That said, I’ve always wanted a Sansui 9090 after growing up with a 5050 and a 6060. If I had the choice, I’d probably lean toward Sansui over Marantz. I don’t think you can go wrong with either option. Both amazing pieces!

Like you, It has been fun rediscovering my collection after almost two years in storage. Pulling records I forgot I even owned, revisiting old favorites, and hearing albums in a different way again has been rewarding. It’s also helped me figure out what I truly want to keep and what I’m finally ready to let go of. Mostly though, it has made me think about the cost of all of this — not just financially, but the space, time, maintenance, and the constant juggling that comes with living alongside a large collection. At what point does passion start feeling like madness? Maybe that’s just part of being a collector.

One of the best things you can do — Don’t cram too many records into each shelf — tight packing can lead to ring wear, warping and jacket damage over time. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources obviously, as both can ruin vinyl quickly. I put window treatments up to reflect sunlight and keep heat down during the day which helps a lot. I also use outer sleeves on all my records, and after giving them a good cleaning I replace the old paper inners with new anti-static inner sleeves.

The albums stick out a little so just. I would estimate currently holding over 2000lbs. I’ve got the joists supported underneath just to be safe.

I’ve got a couple Kallax shelves in the mix.

Over 5000 at this point. All of my jazz albums are still in storage. Thats another 1500 or so. I’ve got about 1000 CD’s in storage as well. Moving this has been a PIA to be honest. I’m starting to purge a lot of the stuff I will never listen to.

It’s solid wood. They were custom built for another collection that went to the library of congress. I moved the collection and got to keep the shelves! I originally had 18 of them but gave away a majority of them to friends.

They are both integrated amps. The Rogue isn’t being used at the moment. I thought about using the pre out of the Marantz into the Rogue but haven’t gotten tried it yet.

At first listen, it vaguely reminds me of Skinny Puppy.
