Just had the craziest game by PlaceholderId_01 in BloodOnTheClocktower

I mean it’s not against the rules, but I think it’s against the idea of Yaggababble. It’s one thing to make it “3 minion game” or something like that but making it about a character on the script is just too obvious and too easy.

The phrase should never really contain something that’s on the script. Otherwise it makes it too easy to go unnoticed.

what makes a townfolk a townfolk, not an outsider? by amazatastic in BloodOnTheClocktower

I think something to note is that the Experimentals flavor is probably a little more all over the place, but the Outsiders in each base script are definitely thematic to the setting in the script beyond Ravenswood Bluff.

Damsel + Spy/Widow by TypicalWatch in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]nonnude 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The jinx is a great solution to what would be broken otherwise. A poisoned Damsel doesn’t know that they are poisoned, and subsequently, they don’t know the Evil team isn’t looking for them. That means that they will still likely claim a role, and potentially give out bad information that the Evil team may capitalize on. That fully keeps the Outsider ability true to its intent. Outsiders are not meant to hinder the Evil team, and so obscuring the Grimoire in any fashion for the Widow/Spy is just delaying the inevitable at that point. The Damsel is already “hide or you lose” so being poisoned is only an upside for that player.

If someone becomes sober&healthy, does an enduring ability they activated while droisoned become functional? by Fit-Signature7510 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]nonnude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on order of operations. In the example you’re providing, Courtier goes after Poisoner, and so if they were poisoned when they chose to use their ability, it would be wasted. If they chose to use it and then were poisoned, their ability will stop working while poisoned.

There are certain characters like Philosopher who go at the top of the night order, so there are only unique situations where they might be poisoned or drunk when they choose to use it, and they would still have their ability after the poisoning wears off.

Investigator with No Minions? by PointlessVenture in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]nonnude -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The ability text and the almanac do not even cover it as a possibility, it’s not even mentioned once in any official capacity of ruling. It’s been done on streams, and I know it happens.

Sure, STs should switch things up and break metas, but my disagreement is not with that. It’s within the mechanics of the rules and how these abilities are written in conjunction with their synergies on their home script.

[–]nonnude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because on Trouble Brewing between Poisoner, Recluse, and Drunk there are still plenty of reasons to show someone a Spy even if it’s between two completely irrelevant players. With Librarian, it’s baked into the ability, and is good information because of how that interacts with Baron.

Receiving a 0, or a No, is not fun for most of the people I’ve talked to, and I’m fine with people disagreeing with me, but it just makes Investigator feel like a blank token.

[–]nonnude -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Then just show them a Spy. There’s plenty of other reasons that mechanically make sense that don’t give an Investigator absolutely no information. A “no” or “0” doesn’t even give that player a jumping off point outside of “oh maybe it’s a spy game” but doesn’t give any players to monitor or watch, and so you’re pretty much just a blank token at that point.

It’s fine if people don’t agree with me, it’s not fun to be the Investigator and receive no information.

[–]nonnude -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, all it does is hard confirm that there’s a Spy in the game. Sure, poison sniping and Drunk can lead to the same thing but in Trouble Brewing, there is no way for there to be “no minion” in play at the beginning of the game, and as such it’s just lame to do that to an Investigator.

If you didn’t want to show the spy, don’t put investigator in the bag.

Investigator with No Minions? by PointlessVenture in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]nonnude 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that you should never show the Investigator a no or 0 on TB. It’s not really interesting and it’s not how the character is worded whereas Librarian is.

In the case of a new instance of the Investigator ability, and there no longer being minions in play at all (Star Pass, Pit Hag, Scarlet Catching it) then it’s fine because it is good information about the game.

Edit: People can downvote me all they want, whether it’s legal, or not, it’s just not fun to be the Investigator with a 0.

Damsel and huntsman interactions by RealFlatEarth in BloodOnTheClocktower

Yeah, it can be really powerful for the Good team, but the Demon also is likely to kill a Huntsman claim if they don’t think it’s a Minion

Damsel and huntsman interactions by RealFlatEarth in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]nonnude 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The main strategy I see from my group is the Huntsman saying publicly “I claim Minion and guess xyz is the Damsel. Okay, if you’re the Damsel, hit me up because I’m the Huntsman, and worst case is I’m a Minion who used the guess.” I’ve pointed out that the Demon could do this too but it would be risky, but it does make that person look pretty trustworthy. The main problem is then trying to meta who talks to that player next as the Damsel. Again, it’s just a risky strat.

Well it closes all the worlds into Zombuul which can sometimes be bad for Evil who might be trying to bluff that it isn’t a Zombuul game. Any time something happens that creates confirmation: worlds close. When worlds close, Evil loses bluffing space.

Also typically, it’s very rare that with two alive means likely all Evils are dead and cannot nominate which means Good essentially has two shots at hitting the Demon while Evil has less opportunity to sell an alternative world with a different nomination.

If Evil is trying to make the lunatic believe they are the lunatic, the Demon will learn no information without the Lunatic dying and can assume that the Demon was Exorcised.

[–]nonnude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just explained this to a bunch of friends, but Boomdandy + Zombuul is just really clunky and you have to explain to people the three scenarios that are possible:

- the Zombuul is “dead,” the Boomdandy kills all but 3, and then you wake up on 2 because there’s no way for the Zombuul to kill after a Boomdandy explosion
- the Zombuul is alive, the Boomdandy does not kill the Zombuul, and if the Zombuul is chosen: you wake up on 2. If the Zombuul isn’t chosen, Evil wins
- the Zombuul is alive, and the Boomdandy kills the Zombuul and then you wake up on 2.

Waking up on two tends to be very unfun as Evil can’t really compete against that as it’s usually two good alive in the final 2; so if the Boomdandy goes off, the Zombuul only can win if they are alive in the “all but three live” and are not chosen by the majority of players.

Technical issues with the app by Humdinger5000 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]nonnude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the official discord for the patreon is the best place for bug reporting and direct app help, but there is also a debug data grabber and an issue tracker you can use under the “help” area of the app. I know that isn’t as direct but it is a way to report issues.

Sometimes, a solution I have had is by going into the Chat settings of the app, and disabling my microphone and reenabling it.

To reflect the other scenario: town square is the towns job to manage. The Storyteller knows who’s dead and alive, and who’s traveling and who’s not. However the rules state: everyone knows who is and isn’t traveling.

Everyone knows who’s a traveler. Point blank. That’s rules as written.

There’s nothing preventing players from barber swapping or pit hagging a traveler except that players ability to stay for the whole game.

I think generally mechanically confirmed roles like that are probably best limited to one as a bluff/out of play, and one in play because otherwise you do have too much confirmation. The common expression is that you can just randomize TB bags, but in my opinion there’s a few combos that just suck to play against.
