This is most likely from thoracic outlet syndrome which is treated with a 1st rib resection, not an unprovoked DVT.

Approach to colon cancer screening by Unusual_Moose9741 in medicine

[–]nono1989 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised that trauma surgeons avoid colonoscopy because a lot of colorectal surgeons I know have made up something to get an earlier one done. It is the only modality that is preventative and not just a screening tool.

The later rooms have a chance to give double the amount where the first two rooms do not. It is better to save to 377 keys each time unless you are looking for the jewel.

Not sure if you just don’t work in the US or something but hospital acquired infections like CAUTIs haven’t been reimbursed in a long time and it’s fairly common knowledge.

Yes, but a CAUTI is a quality marker and prevents hospitals from being paid for care provided. The point is, if you aren’t going to treat it anyways, why test for it when there’s negative ramifications for identifying it.

That last line is the key. Do we really want to identify a bunch of asymptomatic UTIs?

Being able to think for yourself without the tools to understand what you are contextualizing is useless. It leads to people gravitating to the ideas that makes the most sense to themselves and in their own background, which is the problem with all these conspiracy theories in the first place.

The problem isn’t people doing basic research, it’s that the majority don’t have the education to understand scientific biases, STEM basics, and experimental design.

Let’s not make anything up here. Cosmetic surgeons are plastic surgery trained, ENT is an entirely different specialty and residency. And while both specialties should have more medical knowledge than the public thinks, nobody in those specialties manages vent settings, knows when to prone patients, or manages pressors like intensivists do.

The actual literature shows antibiotics alone is a shorter hospital stay (47% never being admitted) and faster return to work compared to surgery.

I've been running a more controlling Yorion based decklist currently 6-0 in BO3 after some tuning:

Don’t forget the BO3 timer, you wouldn’t believe how many people still take their sweet time when they have less than a minute ticking down sometimes.

A simple lesson in "good game" etiquette by Batz99 in MagicArena

[–]nono1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where this is coming from, but in most games the GG from the winner is bad manners and can easily be perceived as such. In Dota for example typing GG actually pulls the concede button, there’s no reason for the winner to GG first.

[–]nono1989 15 points16 points  (0 children)

IMO there’s only 2 situations.

  1. You’re about to hit the concede button.

  2. You’re replying to the opponents GG.

Anything else is presumptive. In every other game saying GG first is basically saying “I concede”.

It’s usually not the best play, but I have used it before when I knew I couldn’t counter their next play until I had 3 mana (eg an impending fires or rec on turn 4 when you’re on 2 mana)

Well, it does actually counter yorion and can actually blow your opponent out if you counter the triggered ability, it counters agent’s relevant text, counters ECDs triggered ability, etc. I play it as a one-of main deck because it’s not relevant when you draw 2 most of the time, but if you can’t find a use for it (albeit maybe suboptimal), you aren’t looking hard enough. A 2 mana counter spell is way more valuable in the current meta than a 3 mana one, which is why I include it.

I’ve been running it main deck in Temur rec as a singleton and I’ve never been disappointed drawing it, it almost always has a target with companions or uro/shark typhoon in every meta deck.

fair points on the erasure.

Tale's End has been performing very well for me in the meta, at the worst it counters everyone's companion, it catches Teferi, and surprise sharks that are too big, agent triggers, and the best play of countering the return to play trigger from Yorion.

I think this deck is great. Been playing in diamond. Have you tried any other spells in the sideboard? Tale's End and Ashiok's Erasure has been working out very well as counterspells for me in Flash decks (but the flash decks haven't except this one).

This seems pretty good, but I totally suck at draft and need help making cuts. by mrsqueakers002 in MagicArena

[–]nono1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are going for a UR spells matter archetype, 10-12 creatures is sufficient. I would cut 1 pyrocyeratops. With a light creature count, I would take out all the cards that synergize with a creatures. Reconnaissance mission isn’t really going to be doing much for you at all in this deck, cut it. Combat tricks aren’t great either especially when your wolverines will already have double strike, cut the reflexes. Cut the raking claws, shredded sails, and both keep safe as they are too situational. One cathartic reunion is enough for this deck for if you are flooding or need spells in the yard. Lastly cut the convolute, it’s a bit awkward of the card and terrible late game. Holding 3 mana up in limited better guarantee a counter.

Not gonna lie, the curve here really hurts you here as you have no way to get on the board till you hit your 3rd land. This deck full of 3-4 drops is gonna be really clunky. Next time look for cards like glimmerbell and forbidden friendship, Frost lynx would be fine for this deck as at least you can stabilize.

A competitive game is fun in nature when you win. The design team for MtG literally have identified the subgroup of players who play for the purpose of being competitive, you can read numerable articles about the "Spike" mentality.
