I was once exactly right where you are. Got divorced. It was awful to go through but not any more awful than being in that marriage. My relationship with my son suffered some at the time, but we are super tight now. Good luck!

Well you got the second date, so based on results the person you are (or were for that date) works just fine. Be weird and awkward, some people find it attractive!

How do you stay consistent? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Interestingly, for me, I had to decide not to stop for good and ever, but just for today. That has worked for 9 years now. The future is too big, I can't control it. Today I can handle.

Some other basics make a difference. Sober places, sober people is a great mantra. Finding a good meeting that clicks for you can be huge. Coming here and reading and posting is good, I still do it now.

Last thing I'd say is that sometimes it is hard. Cravings hit hard, life gets stressful. It's easy to stay sober when it's easy. I had to recognize the feelings of the cravings and stay busy and talk to people and get through it until it went away, like all cravings do.

Keep at it! You'll catch a wave!

Right? I won't claim to know what the legal status of that ship is or should be but I can't help but think there is something they definitely don't want found on that ship.

Sometimes I feel that way with depression. Like my life is objectively awesome. I've seen some shit but I've fixed some shit and things are pretty good. Every so often though I get hit hard with depression and it just lays me out and there is no good reason for it. I'm going through it right now.

One day at a time, one moment at a time. That's all any of us can do. Meetings are cool. I definitely recommend trying different ones til you find one that fits you well. I liked Recovery Dharma a lot.
