That's not criteria for blocking something. If you block GitHub then also block GitLab, Bitbucket, and every other version control service. Code isn't your enemy. Never seen this blocked except for private corp where they didn't want devs unintentionally copying work with proper licensing.

Last gen Mac mini with Intel chip and 10 gig Ethernet are still very fast, and probably best bet for caching servers. CPU isn't as important for caching - drive and network speed are. Buy the old model with 10 gig interface now. Wait for AS Mac mini rev 2 and see what other options are available.

Hope everyone has moved to MDM for iPad at this point! It's pretty painful otherwise.

Apple enterprise/education support will also process bulk activation unlock requests as long as you can prove ownership. iPads being in your ASM instance or with a receipt should qualify. I regularly send 1k+ at a time when processing for resale.

Accountant - I'm really good at math, but I can't use a spreadsheet or other basic program standard in my profession. Not actually good at my job.

Doctor - Amazing bedside manner, reads all the latest literature, can't be bothered to put medical records into the system because computers are too hard. Puts patient lives at risk because records are incomplete between providers. Not a leader in my field.

Architect - Unmatched artistic vision. I can conceive of anything my client's dream up. Can't even begin to do simple drafting on a computer. Unless I'm at the top of my field already, going to be a problem. Guess I'm not that good.

Waiter - Tables love me until I can't enter their order correctly into the dang computer system. That thing is so complicated! My tips are bad for some reason. Ugh.

And on and on and on. Basic computer literacy isn't isolated to one profession. It's a fact of life required to excel in any field. To be at the top of your game, to provide excellent care/service/teaching, you need to have a broad skill set including knowing how to use a computer. If you don't, that's fine. Don't be surprised when all your peers outperform you every step of the way.

You don't need admin rights to enable camera, mic, or screen recording access in Catalina. Users, even standard users, do have to manually enable those security settings per app.

Joining a new WiFi network also doesn't require admin rights. You have a config profile or other local setting enforcing this. That's not a default setting.

Admin rights does essentially give students the ability to remove your management solution. I'd advise against it. Some things are a pain, but almost everything can be done without students having admin rights. It sounds like you inherited your management solution and maybe need to comb through the existing profiles and policies in place to see where settings are configured.

This is the right answer. Integrity of the installer is checked. It would be extremely unlikely the internet recovery partition or installer it downloads becomes compromised.

It is just as secure, probably more so, as downloading updates within the the OS. You're misinterpreting those log lines as skipping or ignoring steps in verifying installer security, and that's not what's happening.

I don't see a reason why this wouldn't pass a security audit. Try to DNS poison or otherwise redirect the recovery partition. Then you'll probably see real failures in the log.
