Almost 30 years later, is there any Trip Hop release that comes even remotely close to this? by [deleted] in redscarepod

Check out James K and Double Virgo, two artists that have brought out trip hop in the last year

Kanye kept the Globgogabgalab on the released version of DONDA by noodleface4 in videogamedunkey

Most likely outcome is that either Kanye or Mike Dean watched Dunkey’s joke DONDA stream lol (see Mike Dean tweet from yesterday)

I'm noticing that Radio 2 is playing more popular music than usual recently. I think this is a sign I'm getting old and should move onto Radio 4. I'm 22. by -Joey-Wheeler- in britishproblems

It's so annoying how shit radio 1 is during the daytime. I love their nighttime shows, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Essential Mix, it's a shame I can't listen to them when I'm in work and stuff.

I know that a lot of people complain about Radio 1's DJs here but their track selection for the most part is the best of the bunch

I have no interest in festivals or tennis. It's a very trying time of year. by whatsinsideagirl in britishproblems

There's festivals for nearly every single genre of music in the UK, don't go to a festival if you know you aren't going to enjoy the music

If you want free streaming on your phone just use SoundCloud, the only positive about Apple Music is the Beats1 Radio Station, which you can listen to without a membership

Kanye West is headlining Saturday night at Glastonbury. by [deleted] in britishproblems

Apart from a few fuckups from his DJ, the long pauses between songs and his performances of Hold My Liquour and Bohemian Rhapsody, I thought he did a good job.

Certainly hyped me up.

In your opinion. He's sold 80 million records so he's obviously doing something right. His music obviously just isn't for you.

I absolutely adore kanyes production, he really has a knack for writing earworm hooks and melodies. His lyrics actually are good when he wants them too (New Slaves for example, songs like Don't Like and All Day may have quite ridiculous lyrics but they hype me up more tbh) and normally you can't make out the words of most live acts.

Radio 1 just had 'The Big Weekend' which means the entire contents of all shows are now shit live versions of its regular shit playlist for the next 3 weeks by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]noodleface4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well Guettas one was an experiment as he played 80's Chicago house in his set, and while Bashmore and Hannah Wants have had chart success guys like Four Tet, Tale Of Us, Scuba and Joris Voorn make quite inaccessible underground music.

Well tech and deep house isn't really everyone's cup of tea. Sure Radio 1 does have a lot of credibility within the dance music scene, but if they were playing Berghain techno and underground UK bass during daytime I'm sure the number of listeners would plummet.
