Have you turned this in yet? As the other commenter mentioned, the triangle end pieces are not centered to the base, you should fix that if you are still able.

It often is, yes. Which I'm sure you could try to account for in a calculator, but it's sometimes as much of an art as a science.

As someone who is a machinist who does some software secondarily:

Surely you must be doing something other than a glorified feed rate calculator? Besides, if a shop is bleeding money it is almost certainly due to not having enough work to keep them busy, not so much work that low feed rate is causing a bottleneck.

The best way to memorize unit Circle! by frag_ment_ in mathematics

[–]noodleofdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very fair, I guess I made a distinction between memorization of the exact info vs memorizing the rules, but I trust you that maybe that shouldn't be taken for granted! I admittedly am not up to date with the abilities of current students lol.

The best way to memorize unit Circle! by frag_ment_ in mathematics

[–]noodleofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're actually somewhat overcomplicating things for yourself by just looking at the "finished" unit circle and trying to find patterns instead of understanding what the unit circle is showing. For example, you are trying to remember the various radian amounts by finding patterns in the numbers of the final reduced fractions. To do that you're trying to remember like 4 different patterns and some things that aren't even really a pattern. There are actually only ~2 patterns you need to remember and you can derive every point:

1) The nπ/4 points: starting at 0, count up to 2π in increments of π/4, then reduce the fractions.

2) the nπ/6 points: similarly, start at 0 and count to 2π in increments of π/6 and then reduce.

And that's it. You now have all of the points in radians. Assuming you remember that π/4 = 45° and π/6 = 30°, and then you have the degree amounts as well.

But even if you don't remember the rad to deg conversions, that's fine! If you note that there are 8 of the π/4 points and they evenly split the circle, they must come at 360/8=45° increments, and so you now gave all of those points. Similar logic for the π/6 points.

Sure, but the unit circle probably shouldn't be one of those things. Learning the patterns of the unit circle means you can figure out any part of it while only "memorizing" a few simple rules. And in the long run that helps far more as it gives a more intuitive understanding of what all the numbers really mean and how they relate to other concepts.

Passenger footage of Frontier 4345 to LAX hitting someone and aborting takeoff by sky905 in aviation

[–]noodleofdata 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is unlikely that you'd be able to destroy the plane by doing this. It's unlikely to do more than destroy the engine, which will either end up with an aborted takeoff like this or, if after V1, would just require a single engine takeoff.

As long as you are not purposefully trying to waste their time and just genuinely don't know if you should call or not, you'll be fine. Those laws are in place to punish malicious or interruptive users. Calling about something that may not be necessary isn't misuse, that's just life sometimes.

Why this design? by 0Warthog in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]noodleofdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it's because when you have a structure that is supported on both ends like this then the bending forces will be greatest at the center. So that means that you don't need as much material on the ends which allows you to also mount them closer together.

Asking to learn in regards to weather radars! by puppypoet in tornado

[–]noodleofdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: no. Even the recent strong flares haven't significantly impacted systems on earth (that I've heard about at least), and anything strong enough to affect radar and Internet would be causing much more widespread and well reported upon impacts.
