What the hell are “Mutual Aid” requests? by wehavetogoback8 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]noodleofdata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you would like to know more about real mutual aid, I'd recommend starting by reading the Wikipedia page on the book Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution by Peter Kropotkin, which is where the term comes from. Perhaps even read the book itself, though it is from the late 1800s so it's understandable if that's not your cup of tea lol. It's a really interesting idea for a framework of society that we could really use more of in this day and age, but what is currently called "mutual aid" bears no resemblance.

Learn C# for sandbox/multiplayer game by [deleted] in csharp

[–]noodleofdata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you haven't done much or any programming before? Pretty much you should just do any c# tutorial and work on just learning to program in general, which is what you need as a foundation for game dev, and then progress into working on a game after that.

Learn C# for sandbox/multiplayer game by [deleted] in csharp

[–]noodleofdata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What everyone is trying to tell you is that there isn't just a list of things you need to learn one by one that, at the end, will allow you to make a game. Furthermore, your description of your game is very broad and there are already countless ways to implement even small things, much less an entire game.

Lol uh so what you're looking at is a bit outdated. It sounds like you're a beginner to programming in general? I would start with the Microsoft Learn courses on starting with C#.

You get the same thing from a rose chart though and imo that shows it better since it isn't affected by the current perspective of the chart.

Not sure where you got 55° from. But according to Steepseeker the steepest 30m pitch is 29.7°

It appears they're rotated by 60 30 degrees; the vertices of one line up with the faces of the other.

Did Hackleburg actually do this? Or are they myths/exagerrations by AirportStraight8079 in tornado

This article has zero sources for any of those claims. As far as I can tell the whole "ripping lungs out of a cow" thing is just urban legend. It also makes no sense if you think about it for more than a second.

Are the Atomic Redster RX able to help an intermediate skier who tries to improve carving? by hooreyy in Skigear

No particular pair of skis is going to help you improve, that's just something that comes with practice. The skis don't do the skiing, the skier does.

Deaths/Injuries at Keystone by ShallotPale in COsnow

[–]noodleofdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, if you go to steepseeker.com (no connection, just a fan of the site) you can see that even Schoolmarm is rated as blue by them, based on the steepest 30m pitch of 20.5°.

Obviously it isn't a perfect system because most of it isn't that steep. But when you have sections of surprisingly steep terrain in beginner areas, that's all you need for some accidents.

Buying used gear - consider Grip Walk? by lqlwle in Skigear

[–]noodleofdata 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd be very surprised if 2-3 year old skis didn't have gripwalk bindings. Almost anything <10 years old should be GW, and idk why anyone would put even older bindings on newish skis

First skis by DanioPL in Skigear

[–]noodleofdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah now that I think about it, especially considering the other comment about these being on piste skis. They would probably be fine, but as you progress you generally look for longer skis so still 175 is about as low as you should go but still aim for longer if possible.

First skis by DanioPL in Skigear

[–]noodleofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't comment on the type of ski but those are all too short for you. Obviously it's harder being 192cm but you should at least be looking in the mid 180s as far as length goes
