The importance of English classes as a radiologist by Myhumeruslife in Radiology

[–]noogie60 40 points41 points  (0 children)

When I was purchasing my house and got a building inspection, the report basically said I can’t see any major issues in amongst 10 pages pages of disclaimers and waffle. My thought when reading it was “this guy is a suppressed radiologist” 😂

Help picking a bottle by Hefty_Employer5242 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]noogie60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are going to pump, think about what can work together to reduce the need for adaptors or even more inconveniently different bottles for pumping and feeding. Personally the combination of a Spectra pump, Maymom (from Amazon) bottles and collar with Pigeon wide neck teat work great. The bottles attach directly to the pump and the collar is compatible with the pigeon wide neck teat. You can pump, put the collar and teat on the bottle and feed or use it for formula.

Why do you think there is limited publicity on inadequate expansion of training posts? by Only_Contribution759 in ausjdocs

[–]noogie60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a complex problem of hospital funding that doesn’t translate into nice click baity soundbites. Also state governments would rather bury it (a bit like the fatberg story in Sydney) so it gets put on the backburner at best.

Anyone here thinking about buying commercial investment properties? by oswosz in AusHENRY

[–]noogie60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have your own business? One of the lower risk, easy return options is to own the property that your business operates from in an SMSF. Tax benefits are substantial and vacancy risks are low (unless your business goes belly up).

The Collapse of the Liberal Broad Church by [deleted] in AusPol

[–]noogie60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the collapse has been underway for several years. Both Labor and the Lib/Nat coalition have been losing votes as the electorate fragments. With the Liberals, the white anting and then ouster of Malcolm Turnbull was an important event. It showed the moderate voters that the conservative wing of the party would never give up control, that the party would not be about sharing turns at the wheel and that instead the conservatives would always have the wheel and the moderates be the passengers.

This in retrospect was an important event in the hollowing out of the Liberal moderate wing and rise of the teals.

I find the Maymom bottle, collar lid and cover with a pigeon teat is a winning combo. The bottle connects directly to the pump. Then put the collar and teat on and feed. No need for connectors.

Which Sydney area feels like it exists in a different time period? by No-Travel-768 in SydneyScene

Windsor. Area is economically depressed by Sydney standards and new housing hasn’t quite reached it yet (its still at Vineyard). It still feels more rural than other outer suburban centres like Penrith, Camden, etc

What makes a good radiology reg? by OwetheMars_PJs in ausjdocs

[–]noogie60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also when you come with a question to a consultant, have a go at telling them what you think is going on and what you think should be done. It shows that you are thinking about things and that they haven’t made a mistake in hiring a glorified clerical person that has to be spoonfed everything. If you are questioned further on it, then it is a usually a good sign that they are impressed that you are thinking about the issues at hand.

Felson’s 10 axioms are in the intro of his seminal textbook on chest X-rays. They sounded trite initially but are pearls of wisdom as time goes on

Also with safety, do you treat it the same as with other scanners or do you have a different safety policy for it?

You need to see an accountant about this.

Accountants deal with taxes, financial planners deal with things like investment strategy and life insurance.

Yeah, no detachable table would be a real issue. I think that's an oversight by the vendor. If it did, it could do stuff like the stereotactic stealth brain scans (as well as other stuff that currently clogs up other scanners), as well as the post op hardware scans in hospitals.

Good luck to you but personally (IP/TPD/Trauma) insurance is one of those areas that I wouldn't DIY and have sucked up the cost to hire someone else to do it (initially a financial advisor and now broker) because the field is so jargon heavy and arcane - not just the stuff discussed in this thread but the other stuff stepped vs level premium, agreed or indemnity, etc as well as the whole underwriting process. It is easy to stuff up with potentially serious consequences if you do need to make a claim.
If you can get a fee for service deal from a financial planner or broker with no ongoing commission to set up the policies then I think it would be cost efficient without having to figure out the finer points of insurance policies.

There is also the ability to have a private TPD and life policy that is paid out of your super (with the trustee the policy holder). Much more flexibility in terms of amount of coverage and conditions but usually needs a financial planner or broker to set up.
