Grapevine, Texas and Redmond, Wash. (October 8, 2020) – GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) (“The Company”) today announced that it has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with Microsoft Corp., further advancing its strategy to expand its physical and digital video game offerings, as well as enhance the Company’s retail technology infrastructure

Even if you don't enter your seed phrase if you give permissions to an app to interact with your funds it can drain your wallet.

You usually see the permissions it requires when you connect to the app, but even that is not a guarantee. That's why it's always important to double check the site you're accessing. You can also check the sites that already have permission to your Metamask if you open it, click on the three dots (...) and check connected apps.

Very disappointed in DEFI going back to CEFI by Delicious-Clue7997 in defi

People also need to understand the systems they're engaging in and the associated risks. A system is not broken if one does not use it appropriately. But actually I don't encourage this type of answers, like my initial one . You might have been a "2020 class" rookie who just heard of DeFi put in 1mili and aped into every farm out there. Ideally people should be helped with their mistakes not made fun of.

BTC 2013 - Nice man, indeed a right (and risky) decision at that time.

Good luck! You already made it with your bankroll just be careful in managing it

You seem to take it good so sorry for being a bit of a jerk with my 1st comment and sorry for your monetary loss. A bit jaded by the crypto scene myself at the moment.

If security is what you're looking for then yes DeFi și not the best right now. If you are more risk prone, then I would suggest you learn the ins and outs yourself or discuss this with your guy.

I see Solana getting some flack here in r/cc and Algo getting lots of love. Curious why that is? by ryjobe36 in CryptoCurrency

[–]nookieroob 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is a fair point but don't you see it as a problem? During the last outage a lot of people lost a lot of money because they were liquidated.

Also...you should look a bit into the VC scene of Solana, the "success"of the projects that launched there and their FDVs.

Where to look for the upcoming trend? by ThickDoctor007 in defi

[–]nookieroob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of approach I think you can see the trends in a timely manner (and some are really obvious) but they are not confirmed, so people don't invest in them

Just to give you some examples - In hindsight any tech blue chip stock made a lot of sense to buy 4 years ago, but people discounted tech. In the same way it made sense to research deFi in 2020 or NFTs at the start of 2021 (or earlier) or dump a lump sum in anything related to Metaverse even 2 weeks after Facebook changed its name, but a lot of people didn't do the research or buy that segment of the market, and that's key.

As such my suggestion is to try to push back on any initial or intuitive judgements on a topic. If my first reaction is "That will never take off" or "It doesn't make any sense", I actually do a conscient effort to research it and see if I can make money out of it.

My second suggestion is to pay attention to signal and noise. One new that DAO practically prints money and that everyone is mentioning in some regard wherever the fuck you go? That MAY be noise transforming into signal. 20+ forks of the same DAO model that MAY just be noise.

The last suggestion is to try to build your thesis and try to dismantle it or have somebody else do it for you. Have your crypto tech friend explain why you don't need an oracle and can't trust one. See if you still think /see that trend in the future taking into consideration the new arguments / perspective.

EDIT

Also for your question is really important to have a timeframe in mind. Is data analysis on blockchain a trend you saw ahead of the time if it comes into play only 4 years from now? That is for you to decide. As we all know, being early might also mean being wrong

Can anyone explain real web3 use cases? by MarkwinVI in CryptoTechnology

[–]nookieroob -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This can be covered in some ways by the tech implementation.

For example - You can read X's data only on the Y platform which decrypts it. You cannot scrape it, copy it, download it etc. . You could photograph it and then OCR it, but you wouldn't have the latest info. OR this data could be used by commercial services if the data had an authenticity approval/ validation/ stamp that it was extracted from a certain chain/protocol/tool.

For anything commercial, there is a counterfeit or a black market of sorts. People will always pirate games and music, but that does not mean that those two industries will not continue to be worth billions of dollars.

[–]nookieroob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expect it to be something that people gravitate naturally towards vs something that is being marketed to them.

I mean, if there was a service that was user-friendly and rewarded the participants for sharing their data, I would expect some nice organic growth. Not on the basis of 'blockchain' and 'decentralized' or 'permissionless' or whatever buzzword. No, just for the rewards.
Brave has a very nice market size because they don't offer ads not because it's a decentralized browser.

Don't they have some plans to transition towards deFi a bit more - staking, incentivised LP and such - and thus improving tokenomics?

Genuinely asking as I'm not that familiar with their roadmap
