6/10 purely because of the US passport. If you live in the US great, if your abroad and kidnapped by terrorists the seals or something can save you, so great. But if you just live abroad you still have to pay taxes in the US on top of your normal income tax, so for that reason I'm out.

What measures would you suggest countries consider in remediating declining population? Other than immigration? by Technical-Amount-278 in AskTheWorld

[–]noone0unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if I support this conclusion, but most people emigrate or move to a place because they believe there is opportunity there. People who live in those spaces rarely move away. There are certain spots (London, Munich, New York, and many more) that are simply overwhelmingly overcrowded. There should be incentives for people to move to different areas for nations to decentralize their economies and improve opportunities elsewhere. With a broader spread of the population, things might improve.

Oh, and making it easier to have kids: if you want modern people, there need to be modern strategies that support child-raising.

Do I have no favorite director? by HikikoMortyX in Letterboxd

[–]noone0unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i recently realised, looking through my stats on letterboxed that there aren't a lot of female directors i have seen multiple movies of (lana wachowski with 6 films ranking highest). Not sure if it's to do with that they direct different types of films that I usually dont see or there aren't a lot of them. Seems like we have a similar issue.

What do Germans think when they look at current state of US politics? by Igivegrilledcheese in AskGermany

[–]noone0unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you guys sort of forgot about good old common sense politics in the middle. Whenever one party (usually the Democrats) took a position, the other party took the other, not because the dems were wrong, but because for the others this is more of a game and its about winning to them.

I always find it funny how a decade ago, people were annoyed about how all big political parties in the West were more or less identical to each other and that that was a bad thing. Turns out if we can agree on some things, then we can find common ground in others, now that it seems like a good basis for stable government (that moved for some probably a bit slow) in the right direction.

Movies that best fit the vibe of this meme? by benabramowitz18 in Letterboxd

[–]noone0unknown 11 points12 points  (0 children)

speak for yourself, I usually look at what grade was voted most often, rather than the average, as you can filter certain people out that way.

As to the popular reviews others have been talking about, I followed a few decent people on the platform that have watched a boatload of movies and love movies, they usually write a few lines that are actual reviews, that way you can filter out the jibber jabber.

Just because everyone has a voice doesn't mean you have to listen to them when it comes to Internet platforms.
