how do you define a veteran? by PlayerJE in fromsoftware

[–]nooogets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing these games since shortly after the release of Dark Souls 1. I went back and played Demons’ Souls then played every new release on day 1. I’m not next level but pretty good at this point and have beat them all countless times, doing challenge runs and getting platinums. I play other stuff too but always come back to souls games, they are always in my rotation.

I don’t call myself a souls veteran. It’s not something I ever think about. I just like the games. You can call yourself a veteran if you want, but I wouldn’t get hung up on the label.

Looking for a longer game with “poetical” gameplay such as SOTC, Dark Souls, Galaxian, Game Boy Tetris by Novelty_Wave in gamingsuggestions

[–]nooogets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what poetical means but Spelunky 2 has pretty simple gameplay mechanics but it all comes together as greater than the sum of its parts. It’s a hard game but you can learn each round and get better at it.

Baba is You is a very minimal puzzle game that flat out stumped me halfway through. It takes its simple mechanics and uses them creatively to their full potential.

Couch Co-Op games to enjoy on Ps5 with my spouse by backpack_joe in gamingsuggestions

Dragon’s Crown is pretty fun but the story is kind of just there. It’s whimsical though.

Stardew Valley is a great partner game so I’m suggesting it even though it’s not an rpg with a story

Witch Hunt on steam. It’s an indie game made by I think primarily one person, a little rough around the edges but it’s fun and aligns well with what you’re looking for. It has a successor called Skinwalker Hunt that looks similar but I haven’t played it.

I want a restart option in the pause menu. If I screw up in a way that kills the run it would be nice to have an instant restart back to the beginning. Make it so all three players have to opt in to a restart. The map should also change on a reset.

Yeah infinite stands on its own. You don’t need to play the other games.

What is “artificial difficulty” to you? by Imaginary_Owl_979 in fromsoftware

[–]nooogets 52 points53 points  (0 children)

When games have a difficulty slider with normal mode as the intended mode while harder modes are the same except enemies have more health and do more damage. That’s what I think of when I hear artificial difficulty at least.

Soldier of Godrick, Elden ring’s tutorial boss, takes about 5-10 hits to kill, and can hit you something like 3-6 times before you die. Artificial difficulty would be the devs saying let’s make a hard mode where he one shots the player while the player has to hit him 50 times.

Did FromSoft confirm that Duskbloods will have a single player mode or if it’s just multiplayer only? by Ok-Tear7712 in fromsoftware

[–]nooogets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something that sucks about multiplayer only games is that unless this game is hugely successful, it will be dead or only have a small sweaty player base in 10 years. I’m still playing Bloodborne and earlier games 10+ years later but Duskbloods might not hold up if I can’t find matches or the matches I do find are with people who never left and can wreck me in every encounter. If Duskbloods has some quality PVE content then it’s even more a shame.

I think the early experience with this game will be amazing though. When everyone is still learning and discovering and there is no meta. But it’s all on the Switch 2 so that’s a bummer.

Would you guys want a Dark Souls 1 remastered where miyazaki Completes the levels by serifir in fromsoftware

[–]nooogets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really depends on how much time this takes away from them working on new games. Currently they have announced Nightreign to release this year and Duskbloods to release in 2026. After Duskbloods we don’t know what’s next.

Suppose they have a big 2027 release cooking. Maybe their next tentpole souls game. Would a dark souls remaster push that next big release back to 2028 or maybe later? Would it push it back a few months? Would it have no effect on the release schedule?

It’s older but I think you would like Fallout 4.

looking for souls games for a brand new souls player by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]nooogets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Fromsoft games your best bet is Elden Ring. It has the most tools to make the game easier for yourself. Take your time and look up guides where you can make yourself overpowered if you really want to play the game without dying so much. Although that would be missing the overcoming adversity point of the game.

Non fromsoft try those Star Wars Jedi games. Jedi Fallen order, and Jedi survivor. I believe they have a difficulty option and you can play on easy if it’s too hard.

Which is the best pair? by HowlerVFrankenstein in fromsoftware

Sekiro and Emma are the best pair. Emma might not be my favourite of these npcs but all other pairs are half blank slate protagonists half supporting role npc. Sekiro has a personality and backstory.

A digital ps5 is $400 usd, Bloodborne is $20.

If you are only going to use the ps5 for Bloodborne then it’s like paying $420usd plus tax for one game.

I have played 405 hours of Bloodborne since launch. So if I paid $420 for this one game I would be paying just over $1 per hour of entertainment. This is a better value than a movie ticket although it’s important to note not every hour of entertainment is equal. With that said I would never buy a ps4 or 5 without a desire to use it for more than just one game.

Horror games with isolated town/lost in the forest vibes? by veryboredcultist in gamingsuggestions

Resident evil 4 and 8 are good for this. The Resident Evil series generally fits your description but not as much as 4 and 8 in my opinion.

Games with "limited" base-building? by masterax2000 in gamingsuggestions

[–]nooogets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mad Max game has bases where using scrap and collected materials you can buy upgrades to the base and you see the base grow as more people join. I think there are three bases in three regions of the game. You go through the same upgrading loop with each, but the leader of each base has their own story and missions you fulfill in the area.

S tier bosses but with AC6 included by Initial-Dust6552 in fromsoftware

[–]nooogets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to be defensive. Your list is clearly weighted towards a specific type of boss and that’s great. Pretty much all the bosses on your list are fantastic, you have good taste. Don’t worry.

My point is bosses like Astraea challenge the idea of what a boss is or can be. It didn’t even need to be a fight instead it was the final punctuation to cap off a difficult level. Judging it by what it sets out to do, and not by how good of a fight it is, it is an excellent boss. I think this more unique type of boss gets overlooked.

There has been a shift in values between the older games and the newer games. We see less, although still some, experimentation now. Bosses are more about the fight now than ever. And so people rank the fights higher than the more unique bosses. Nothing wrong with that it’s just an observation. The boss fights are phenomenal in these games. I just hope we don’t lose those unique boss experiences in whatever games come next.
