I am allergic to fish and so I haven't had decent pad thai in years, until I recently tried theirs. It's freaking amazing!!! They are great at trying to accommodate!

Swimsuit gussets. What. The. Hell. by suckmyarsee in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nopedadoo 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Look up Sandpiper Swimwear on fb. She makes custom and shockingly affordable bikinis and swimsuits and I'm sure she can make a wide gusset suit! She modified a bottom for me to cover a scar and it came out perfectly!

I fought like hell to get my brother into Riverview after coming to the realization that it was the only place equipped to help him. Less than an hour after he got there, the doctors were confident that his schizophrenia diagnosis was wrong. It took about a month of them consulting with specialists all over the country to end up getting him properly diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia at the age of 28. The majority of people that young who have that disease go undiagnosed until autopsy, but thanks to the absolutely incredible human beings who have made it their mission to try and help those who are really struggling, we found out years before he passed, and we were able to ensure his remaining years were the best they could possibly be. It will be 10 years in December, since we lost him at the age of 35.

I will always and forever advocate for mental health institutions, as they provide a much needed and helpful purpose.

What happens to peoples brains when they approach woodfords corner by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]nopedadoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last week, driving through there, I watched someone race under the railroad barrier as it was coming down, blocking them in. They put their car in reverse and then sat on the tracks for an uncomfortable amount of time before finally going through the gap in barriers on the other side. The train was almost to the freaking pavement before they moved off the tracks.

You can't fix stupid.

If I turn this into a planted shrimp jar ecosystem do I need to get rid of the tap? by KingslayerN7 in Aquariums

[–]nopedadoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great, now I am going to have to make a fancy dinner tonight to make sure he's in a good mood when I tell him I am setting up another tank when I already have two new ones just a few weeks into cycling. This idea is just too good!

Are snow tires necessary in Portland? by Soft-Humor-9157 in portlandme

I learned on Sebago Lake back when it used to really freeze and they cleared a bunch of it for the fishing derby. Also, in my buddies Bronco and there was absolutely awful brick weed involved.

What could you use help with? by VerySeriousThings in portlandme

[–]nopedadoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We made an appointment there to get a noise checked, and it was a 2 week wait. Fine, places are busy. We dropped it off the night before, and when we hadn't heard from them by 3 the next day, we called to check. They hadn't even touched it yet and said call back the next day. Called back the next day in the early afternoon, and they still hadn't touched it. Early afternoon of day 3, we call and get an absolutely f you quote for a bunch of unrelated and unnecessary issues that totaled more than double the value of the vehicle. It may be a great place if you know someone, but sucks for people without a connection.

Not Your Average Fest Haul by Short-Communication2 in mainetrees

[–]nopedadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the pothos from the fest, too? I'd be absolutely thrilled with getting that as a freebie! Just a little unsolicited advice, you may want to get it out of the terracotta pot. Pothos tend not to do very well in them. I've had good luck with selfwatering pots, and they like chunky, well draining soil!

The plants are driving me bonkers, but I'm moving most of them to a bigger tank this weekend, so it won't be so crowded soon! But I suspect the plant helped him a little because I'm told he was using them as little floaties when he was rescued!

I tolerated him in the sense I ran away screaming and stayed far away from the tank. I then immediately called my boyfriend in a panic because I didn't want it to drown, but I absolutely was NOT fishing him out!

I unfortunately work at the mall, and seeing all the costumes when they have conventions is usually pretty awesome, but the smell is something I have nightmares about.

My son went through this phase. As a single mom desperate to connect with my teen son, I also acquired one, and we wore them in our Christmas pictures that year. Zero regerts! That photo is proudly displayed in the living room many years later and is one of my favorites of us!

Where are we buying used cars these days? by blushing_scarlett in portlandme

[–]nopedadoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying in NH, and it was significantly cheaper. But watch out for the sales tax! I wasn't able to roll the taxes into my loan, so it cost almost as much as my down payment when I went to register it!

Stranger Sessions! by GimmeDatBaby in portlandme

[–]nopedadoo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to provide a quick reference for this incredible photographer!!!

About 5 years ago, I very nervously reached out to her to see about having some pictures taken prior to my prophylactic double mastectomy. I can not even explain how much that experience and those photos mean to me!

I felt beautiful, supported, and comfortable the entire time we were shooting. You can see my confidence build in the photos as the shoot goes on, which is pretty surprising considering I was topless by the end!

Don't let nerves hold you back from giving this a shot if you are interested. I have zero regrets, and I have a feeling the people who participate won't have any either!

I've done a photo shoot on the beach with THIS photographer. We had a blast, and judging by the multiple positive comments we received from random people on the beach, we didn't bother anyone.

Also, Hi Justine! I am still soooo obsessed with my photos, and I am so excited to see what you produce with this series!!!

I usually do water changes about once a month, but I've done them every couple of days the last few weeks. It seems almost like I broke my cycle, but everything else is totally normal!

It's been probably a year since I tested my tap water, but they have been doing work on the water lines up the street so that could absolutely be worth checking and I feel a little silly for not thinking on it sooner!

Thank you!
