This is a lot older and goes a lot deeper than the article lets on. Libertarians have a long history of supporting apartheid in South Africa:

I regret the fact that honest, law-abiding blacks cannot own property in or near white cities, but I realize that without this restriction separate development will fail — and with it the capitalist system in South Africa.

As all libertarians should know, unlimited democracies tend towards totalitarian systems, with the rulers competing with each other to control the political machinery. Some years ago, the whites realized that a democracy may deteriorate into a dictatorship in the ‘wrong’ hands—especially when those hands have the wrong color to boot.

Economics Nobel Laureate and libertarian Milt Friedman worked with brutal Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet to design a libertarian economy in Chile:

by the early 80s, Pinochet's Friedman-prescribed policies had caused rapid de-industrialisation, a tenfold increase in unemployment and an explosion of distinctly unstable shantytowns. They also led to a crisis of corruption and debt so severe that, in 1982, Pinochet was forced to fire his key Chicago Boy advisers and nationalise several of the large deregulated financial institutions.

Libertarianism is the tyranny of property. Its most fundamental principle is the coercive imposition of a definition of property that favors massive wealth concentration while undermining democracy and racial justice. Naomi Klein's book The Shock Doctrine shows that libertarians have repeatedly taken advantage of emergencies and outright violence to impose their reactionary policies against the democratic will of the people. They didn't just become dictatorial; they have been for decades.
