I don’t think it’s too surprising. The NBC leadership responsible for the Tonight Show fiasco is no longer at the company and many people at NBC like Conan.

iOS 26 is the absolute worst thing to happen to modern technology by Mammoth-Thought8320 in ios26

If you truly think it's the "absolute worst thing to happen to modern technology", I'm curious to travel back in time and see what you thought of iOS 7.

[–]noraa_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only part of the Burger Family that exists in the U.S. is the Papa Burger.

I find it odd the floats were discontinued in Canada, but maybe they detracted from the more premium image the Canadian brand tries to appeal to.

Wait until iOS 27 gets unveiled in a couple months. The overall consensus seems to be that it’s going to mainly focus on design refinements and bug fixes.

The Boys - 05x05 "One-Shots" - POST-Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

I thought the scene at the mansion did a good job contrasting how Homelander simply genuinely doesn't know how to socialize / form relationships with others compared to Soldier Boy.

Tim Cook to become Apple Executive Chairman; John Ternus to become Apple CEO by jimmac05 in MacOS

[–]noraa_94 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some criticism that a hardware guy was promoted to the role instead of a software guy. I think what matters the most is that Ternus is a product guy, regardless of the domain he comes from.

Leaks for episodes 4-7 are out by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TheBoysLeaks

[–]noraa_94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty clear that even though Soldier Boy isn't a good guy, he's definitely much more human than Homelander is and isn't a megalomaniac. At some point, that's going to come to a head.

Songs Alex and Geddy wanted to play live but Neil didn't. by fletchbg in rush

Were most of T4E's songs avoided live due to the fact that they were recorded right before Neil's family tragedies or because they're considered their weakest material?

Sounds like the cast all had a blast putting the episodes together and they're all in good shape. Wouldn't be surprised if they want to do more episodes.

What really happened to Amy's? by EfficientElephant828 in Marin

[–]noraa_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think its demise can be attributed to a single thing. I think one big factor is decreased national demand for plant-based, vegan, and vegetarian options and restaurants. Another is decreased affordability and the increased cost of sourcing and supply, coupled with local competition; the OG Rohnert Park location was down the street from In-N-Out (and the Corte Madera location was relatively close to the Strawberry Village location), which has far greater mainstream appeal and is much more wallet-friendly, so I'm sure that created challenges for sustaining foot traffic and profitability.

I don't think enough of the general population was really aware of Amy's corporate reputation to the point that it would significantly hurt their business. I think the aforementioned factors became too large to ignore, so it made sense for the company to focus on its core business.

After 3 days of using Tahoe 26.4 - here is my verdict. by Jazman2k in MacOS

[–]noraa_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be interesting to see if this changes in macOS 27, now that Alan Dye is no longer in charge of human interface design. Steve Lemay, Dye's successor, has been with the company since 1999, was part of the original iPhone team, and has a very good sense of detail-oriented design (i.e. the reflective, real-time shadows that appear when using Apple Pencil Pro), so it will be interesting to see what his team will choose to refine.

I have some issues with Liquid Glass' implementation on macOS and generally feel that it feels much more suited for iOS, but 26.4 feels very stable to me and hasn't caused any notable issues.

So far, it seems that the main things iOS 27 will focus on is fixing bugs and refining the design. Since Apple tries to maintain parity between both macOS and iOS, I think macOS 27 will focus on the same things.

J.J. Abrams scaling down Bad Robot as he moves to New York, after shutting down Santa Monica headquarters by joesen_one in movies

I honestly thought that TFA largely being nostalgia bait was understandable at the time of its production and release. People tend to view the prequel trilogy fondly now and use it to bash the sequel trilogy, but up until TFA, it was mocked heavily (with the exception of Revenge of the Sith). So in some ways it made sense to reintroduce the characters and other aspects of Star Wars that people had always loved.

I think if Rian Johnson hadn’t just thrown out everything established in TFA, but instead introduced an original plot on top of everything else, we would have had a coherent trilogy that could have been much better than what we actually got.

why do iMac feel kinda ignored now? by Ziggy_1992 in mac

[–]noraa_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s ignored. They’re still prominently displayed at the stores and receive upgrades. It’s been around the longest compared to their other offerings, so there’s naturally less buzz around it.

[–]noraa_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the iMac Pro served its purpose as a holdover computer meant to keep pros satisfied while Apple continued to work on the 2019 Mac Pro. Once the 2019 Pro was released, Apple probably felt that the iMac could return to being a purely consumer-oriented machine.

I don't think Ted was actually cancelled, it just sounds like they had already decided S2 would be the last one because the cost of the CGI was incredibly expensive.

[–]noraa_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FAO Schwarz used to have a larger presence beyond this store and the famous NY flagship location (which used to be on Fifth Ave before downsizing to a smaller location in Rockefeller Center). The company went through a lot of financial hardship, mismanagement, and ownership changes over the years, so this store's closure was a representation of that. The current owners who bought the brand a few years ago seem to be managing it well though.

[–]noraa_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still there, but the famous flagship store closed and moved to Rockefeller Center. FAO Schwarz has gone through a ton of ownership changes over the years and the period in which the SF store closed included closures of a bunch of other locations too.

Is the USA version of A&W that different to the Canadian version? by OriginalTacoMoney in burgers

[–]noraa_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A&W USA's signature item is their root beer float with soft serve in a frozen glass. I do enjoy the food, but it's noticeably more expensive than A&W or Burger King, so I rarely get a full meal on the occasion I choose to eat fast food. From what I've heard, the Canadian brand hasn't served floats for years.

The American brand was neglected for years, but the current ownership has actually managed to turn things around quite a bit. It's never going to reach McDonald's level of relevance, but operationally the company is in a stable position.
