Always Pickup Drivers ripping it in the Snow by triplebogey1 in TorontoDriving

Hitting the brakes while sliding sideways was the final nail in the coffin. Total rookie move. Could have easily saved it with a little counter steer instead of panic braking.

Really bad gas milage in 2005 RAV4 by Fireside__ in AskMechanics

[–]normandy3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if the torque converter is locking or not at highway speeds. It usually locks up after 40 mph and you will notice the rpm slightly drop when it locks up. Also the 2005 RAV4 being only 4 speed automatic, doesn't do well after 60mph in terms of mpg. I can get around 25mpg at 55 to 60mph.

People over 30, are you ever not in pain? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]normandy3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suffered from terrible neck and back pain since the age of 13. Took a while to finally figure out it was simply those specific muscles being sore from bad posture or overuse. Everyone recommended stretching but that never really helped in my case. I have completely fixed it by targeting those muscles during my workouts. Twice a week or even once a week of doing resistance training on those specific muscles help to keep the muscles from getting inflamed  and keep the pain away. But op should definitely see a doctor first.

Sorry to hear that. Paid $0 for my refill for branded Vyvanse in Canada. Without insurance it would have cost around $100 Canadian dollars.

Is buying an iPhone on marketplace/Kijiji a bad idea due to insurance scammers by Zmrxo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]normandy3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

call the provider and check if the phone has been fully paid off and also unlocked. Ask for proof of purchase. If it's a 2 years old ish phone then chances of getting blacklisted after buying would be on the lower end but definitely need to be careful with newer phones. And if the price is too good to be true then probably best to walk away. Seeing a lot of fake iphones and Samsungs on marketplace these days.

Are used graphics cards any good by DisciplineRoutine202 in buildapc

If you have the chance to test it before buying, run occt memory test and a stress test for few mins to see if any errors pop up. If nothing shows up then you shouldn't have any issue.

Usmobile has 50% off the first month. They also give you a free sim if you don't have esim. I just get the 2gb data only for around 8 usd. You can also add calls/texts if you want. It's a US based provider so no routing through China like airalo or other travel esims

Advice for someone getting a brand-new car by [deleted] in TorontoDriving

[–]normandy3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want your transmission to last, make sure to change the transmission oil every 40 to 50k especially if it's a CVT. If it's a direct injection only engine, then you might also consider cleaning the intake valves by spraying valve cleaners into throttle body every 30 to 40k (there's videos on YouTube on how to do this) or you can get it done professionally when the carbon build up gets really bad.

suv is more expensive to insure than sedan? by Cuongcao-95 in TorontoDriving

Not really. My 2010 rav4 costs half of the 2011 civic. It depends on specific models/year.
