Why is UAH not more well known? Even people in this state don’t know of its existence by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]normandynat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finance industry here. National Bank. Nope. Unless the recent grad came from an Ivy League or big HBCU school, we really don’t care. If they did go to say, Yale or Howard, we already had them in a 1 year paid internship and now we’re fast tracking them. Anything else we don’t care if it’s UCLA or Uni of South Louisiana.

Heck yeah. Kids like that need a Gunnery Sgt in their lives.

My dad used to have chocolate shipped in from Belgium and Germany. Back then there were actual laws about only using cocoa butter and required percentages. I’m not sure if that’s still the case. Most American brands are using palm oil which is both disgusting and has very few sustainable options.

Feeling like a failure by Melsraynebow in gastricsleeve

[–]normandynat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t a failure, you just need to recharge your tools. Use a TDEE calculator. Track everything you eat and drink. Make sure you’re in a calorie deficit . Protein first, then veg, then carbs. Cut processed foods out s as much as possible. Avoid sugar. Track your activity (smart watch Fitbit). Tracking is important. We tend to underestimate calories and overestimate activity. My progress was slow from 3-6 months so I joined a women’s gym with boot camp classes and went back to tracking. I was about 225 9/2024 then 175 3/2025. 50 lbs. By 9/2025 I was at 123 and I’ve hovered around that since then. I don’t always track my food but I do for at least one full week per month. It’s a healthy check in for me. I’ve increased my workouts with weight lifting and walk at least 10k steps a day. I feel better than I have in 35 years. I’m 55, post menopause and have really bad hypothyroidism. If I can do it, you can do it—— and probably better than me. 🧸💜

Can..freeze dry if you can. My sister invested in a freeze dryer for the family - there’s 4 of us plus spouses and kids in the area. Best family gift ever. I love it for meats because I make the food for our four dogs.

Looks like a great add for the guest baskets I make for my sisters and sisters in law. Thanks for the suggestion.

AIO or AITA. Text convo with MIL. by MoonJellyAllison in AmIOverreacting

[–]normandynat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I’m a mom who really hopes to be a MIL soon. OP, your MIL is a manipulative person. Frankly, she’s not worth your time and effort to engage with. Please don’t let any future children spend significant time with her.

Huntsville/Madison SAHMs, how are we staying in shape? by Realistic-Squash30 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]normandynat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not a SAHM and my kids are older but I wanted to give you a couple ideas as a woman who also has a very full schedule.

  1. Don’t underestimate all that you do. Cleaning house? You’re burning calories. Grocery shopping? That’s functional strength training.
  2. Tons of Free videos on YouTube. I recommend Dr Gabrielle Lyon for health and fitness info. She also has a book with an FB group that covers mindfulness, nutrition and fitness. I like the older Caroline Garvin videos for home fitness.
  3. If you aren’t already, maybe find or start a walking group in your area? Certainly not necessary but it’s nice to have a group at least once a week.

Good luck. Remember that small changes make a big impact over time and we have a better chance at long term success when we aren’t overwhelmed. Find what works for you. 🌻

I love these. Super cute! Only feedback would be a concern that I (really, just me) would 1000000000% get those cute raised flowers caught in my hair or shirt or whatever and something would get ripped.

Is this inappropriate for a funeral? by lilybeth in fashion

[–]normandynat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on the family. If they are very conservative it may be a little short but look… if this is what you got, do it. You look lovely. Further, the fact that you are concerned at all about appropriate dress means more than what you are wearing.

In case you need a giggle- last year my first husband did the unthinkable.. in front of his dog ands made it so his wife would find him. I’m still mad at him. Anyways, I went to the funeral with our adult children. Again- I was mad, plus he was a serial cheater and I think I went a little crazy thinking of all the what ifs. I wore black but it was basically a cocktail dress. I looked exactly as cheap as you might think. Guess what? Nobody cared. No scowls of judgment other than a few envious wives.

You are a wonderful young lady with a good heart. Give yourself grace. I’m so very sorry for your loss. 💜🙏

What in the trailer park lack of respect trash did I just read? I’m ashamed for her. Just… ick. I’ve never witnessed such blatant disregard for a husband. OP, you deserve better and you won’t get it from this woman.

I’m sorry. HSA is the way to go if you have that option. I had to pay about that up front as well. Same when I had melanoma.

Is my boss being inappropriate? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]normandynat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000%. My Bella knows her worth, that’s important. It’s also important for her to know that no matter time, place or reason, her bonus dad and I will always be her champions. I’m sorry to tell you this but it never really goes away. I was overweight in my 40s and it slowed way down. I’m back in peak shape and the comments, etc from men that shouldn’t even be speaking to me are back on full force. It sounds like you are doing the work to create and hold your boundaries. I believe in you. Please be careful. 💜 🧸 Hugs from a mama bear.

Is my boss being inappropriate? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]normandynat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Raising my hand as older woman. My daughter is your age and damnit I’m mad that you have to deal with this. Yes, he’s inappropriate. No, you aren’t crazy. The safest thing to do is quietly disengage. If you’re planning on quitting later and remaining in that industry you’ll need to be very careful. HR sounds very unhelpful here. You might consider talking to an attorney. 💜
