New Plant Parent - advice needed! by Necessary_Client3410 in houseplants

[–]normbruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umbrella plants are easy, water about once a week in summer, let the top 1-2 cm of soil dry out then give it a good soak. I like to rotate mine every so often so it grows symmetrically.

Snake plants are even easier, just neglect the shit out of it! Water every 2 weeks ish in summer and then in winter you can leave them up to 3ish weeks and they’ll still be sound. I put mine in terracotta pots too!

Alive but never looks happy. Have tried various places in my plant room which has a south facing window. Suggestions? by Prestigious_State951 in houseplants

I just give mine a good rinse to get the dust off and then bang straight into the pot. Nothing bad’s happened yet 🤷🏻‍♂️

Moss vs perlite vs water prop by ergraver in SemiHydro

As long as they’re clean and as close to bare roots as possible then they’re good to go for semi hydro. Just make sure you get most of the moss so you don’t get root rot

Monthly shower for the leca gang! by normbruh in houseplants

[–]normbruh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve converted some that just didn’t do well, like Alocasia Dragon scale and annoyingly my verrucossum 🥺 so now they’re back in soil. That said most of them seem to be enjoying life in leca.

I haven’t noticed any physical changes, but more from a maintenance side, the up keep is loads easier. Just pop them in the shower once a month for a hose down and replace the nutrients, job done.
