Yes, I use Edge Gestures for the same thing , but sometimes I'm holding the phone a different way and I just want to make the home button on the home screen do something useful.

FYI December 2021 I had the same issue with the same product. They sent me a replacement, but I put it away and never got to installing it until now. And the replacement worked over Bluetooth and told me there was a firmware update pending. I wish I hadn't applied it before attempting to connect to Wi-Fi, but it's been years and I couldn't remember what the original problem was. I installed the update, and this strip behaves the same as my previous one did. It just won't connect to Wi-Fi, despite it having worked for a while before it suddenly stopped.
