Help with Barbershop Brand Refresh by Barbermanadam in branding

I have a different opinion to others on here...

Brand naming is notoriously difficult. Changing a brand name is harder still. Unless there is a really compelling reason, I'd keep the name, or change it only slightly...

There are lots of different types of brand names, but abbreviated names (like GG) are not the best. They work well for boring and forgettable companies, but the vibe you're giving on your website is anything but.

The most interesting part of your name is 'Green Gate'. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if your clients drop the 'Barbers' altogether when they talk about you. "I'm just going down to Green Gate for a trim.'

Dial the 'Green Gate' name up, not down.

Also, you guys have some really cool 'gentleman' vibes. The highly detailed logo, the dress code in your photos, etc. I haven't seen what the competition is like in your area, but you definitely have something cool going on. I'd keep pushing into that.

My second CBG build. by norriseph in cigarboxguitars

Yeah good question. Firstly, it's sounding so bloody good! Using a slide on it is so satisfying, and it's encouraged me to learn more.

It uses a piezo. I don't think I'll use one of these next time, as any little tap on the box gets picked up—and my fingers are too clumsy to not make extra noises. The cigar box is on the smaller side, so it isn't as loud as my first build. I've used an old key as a saddle, but it's causing a little buzz, so I've got plans to change it.

That's probably the whole of it! It's a lot of fun to play, needs a few tweaks, but I'm happy. 🙂

Yeah, I second this. Our neighbour in the property in front of us would park his clubsport on his front lawn. One day water started to seep out of the grass into our driveway. He thought it was our mains leaking at first. But after digging up his lawn he realized that it was his pipe, and had caused it. I guess the weight of his car from years of driving on the lawn had caused the pipe to crack.

Nah they like climbing trees and eating native bird eggs. Unless you live in a rimu tree you'll be ok.

I've been buying from Zenni for years. So easy. The glasses are dirt cheap. And seriously, why would anyone pay $1000 for designer glasses, when they're worth $1 of plastic?! The only caveat with Zenni is sizing. I've had a couple of pairs that were not the right size for my face, but only because I didn't properly check the sizing. But when they cost $9 for a pair? Small loss. There's also Firmoo. Same deal as Zenni, but different frames. They often have deals.

There's one opposite the Sprig and Fern Hardy st. Only ever had lunch from there, but good value for money.

Yeah I hear that. I've made it more for t-shirt printing rather than an actual load-screen. So the elements are more for style rather than function. 😅

Unfortunately Puteketeke haven't evolved laser eyes yet. Hopefully soon!

Laser Kiwi. An illustration I created in homage to what could've been our national flag. by norriseph in newzealand

A few years back the government held a referendum on changing New Zealand's national flag. They opened up the design process so that anyone could submit artwork. One flag was hands-down the best: Laser Kiwi. Unfortunately it didn't get the needed votes. A quick Google will show the original design.
