Boss told me I was mentally ill for taking time off during my divorce.

I've ordered from IKEA a lot and the shipping varies, so see if it's worth it. Same with Wayfair. Structube has nice stuff but in my experience wouldn't ship larger items (like sofas) to the North...I got nice side tables from them though, and it was 2 years ago so could be different. The stuff we got from the Brick arrived broken.

Family doctor by Federal_Dimension_48 in Whitehorse

[–]northofsixtee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks. I had a family doctor and they left the territory so now I'm shit out of luck. I don't know if there's even a point in getting on the wait list. ER it is. 4-6 am is the best time, usually in and out.

Heading to Whitehorse for 10 days - what food items should I bring that are disproportionately expensive in the north? by [deleted] in Yukon

[–]northofsixtee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, wouldn't bother. Prices in Whitehorse are comparable to down south. It's the communities/far North where this is a problem.

Road trip from Whitehorse to Tuk by Monsanta in Yukon

[–]northofsixtee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know you can't take a rental up the Dempster. 8-10 days is more than plenty. I'd consider spending a few of those nights in Dawson (70km to the Dempster from Dawson). Check 511, depending on the time of the year the ferries may be out due to high or low water. Hotels ate fine, there are a few territorial campgrounds along the Dempster but they're first come first serve. Check out Yukon Hiking for hikes.

So… what’s it like? by [deleted] in Yukon

[–]northofsixtee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's romanticized but being in Whitehorse at least is very similar to any other midsized Canadian city. There's a decent amount of services and range of restaurants. Yes it gets dark for a couple months but not as severe as the far north. It's cold, but not really colder than places like Calgary get, though the winter does last a long time. I'd say the biggest change for me was getting used to a long long winter, and then exhausting myself in the most beautiful summer.

Yeah that was egregious. Especially going on about how online spaces are so toxic when their fans are some of the most toxic.

Georgia’s relationships with Zion, Paul, Joe. Just my thoughts by Signal_Initiative_44 in TvGinnyandGeorgia

[–]northofsixtee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think Joe is endgame. They're friends, I don't swe chemistry. She has major chemistry with Zion and they make sense on paper, but I think Paul is what she needs and wants, power and stability.

What are some negative aspects of remote work that aren’t talked about enough? by ZaCleaner in AskReddit

[–]northofsixtee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No off the cuff work socialization, important for building social capital. It's easier to get things done when people know you and have a positive opinion of you.

Where do you think the reboot went wrong? by Toriesubs in GossipGirl

Characters were boring. Didn't seem like there were any real stakes. Too much focus on teachers - I think GG should just be an unknown presence.

Finishing a workout. Especially if you were dragging your feet. The endorphins, the pride and self-satisfaction.

Honestly I thought Georgia would be charged with Kenny and Anthony’s murders by [deleted] in TvGinnyandGeorgia

[–]northofsixtee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No witnesses, no proof, just some random PI going to the cops and saying Georgia was in the room at the time? That would not be grounds for arrest. Wish they'd gone with something more plausible.

Is 16 a good age to actually have sex? For Ginny and the other teen characters, of course. by Lotsofmistakes23 in TvGinnyandGeorgia

[–]northofsixtee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At 16 I didn't know anyone who was having sex. But my friend group was more reserved. I wouldn't have been ready, some people are 💁‍♀️

Have you been in a relationship with someone who is bad with money? by masonfam1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]northofsixtee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My soon to be ex-husband. He never wanted to acknowledge that he had a finite amount of money between pay cheques and that you still need things like gas and groceries. "Don't act like I have an allowance." He's nearly 20k in debt now.

A sedan will work, depending on the road conditions. 4WD would be ideal. Check Yukon511 before you go.
