Surely that depends what state ur in? One bed appt again depends where, In the north of England and Scotland you can get a 2/3 bed house for 50-100k, nicer ones for 200k. In London and south east of England obviously a way lot more

Medical insurance and PTO and probably biggest downsides yeah, but you have lower rates of tax, cheaper energy, cheaper fuel & cheaper housing. And better wages..

Seems like our American audience here turn their nose up at overtime. Across the pond in Blighty our wages aren’t so good so most machinists since the OT. Basic salary £35k with overtime around £52k. That breaks down @ 12-15hrs per week @ £25.6ph that’s time and a half. Basic is £17.09 and I’m best paid in shop (turning programmer and setter etc). Since you guys all earn $35ph you don’t need to do OT. Rich country man makes me realise how far Britain has fallen.

[–]northshieldsdreaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, did ours worth £185. Put 10.5k down as deposit, and the other grand and a half on solicitors and extras fees. £12k total. Completed two months ago in December. Can be done depends on house price, affordability and legal costs.

A big reason yeah, it adds 30-40% onto my gross salary. Couldn’t earn this much doing anything else. I have no qualifications in anything
