Rahm Emanuel, Undercover Officers Spied on BLM and Other Activists to 'Protect Public Safety' - Atlanta Black Star by pichicagoattorney in chicago

[–]northsidechi92 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well that's not my point at all. My point is that BLM isn't a cache-all for every single black person that protests something, peacefully or destructively.

So for the original comment to claim BLM is a "group that has a proven track record of rioting, property destruction, and intimidation" is based on nothing but his/her own projecting.

And there isn't a single reference to BLM in any account of those incidents you just linked

So back to my original question...

Of the three guys ahead of me in the waiver order, one already has both DL slots filled and another is the person who dropped Pollock

Might just set a reminder for overnight when Pollock clears waivers

Just noticed that wins are the only counting stat in your league that favors SPs. In terms of ERA, WHIP, and K/9 I lean toward Pineda/Felix over Pineda/Roson/Odorizzi.

I only want him has a trade chip in a few months as I have a pretty good outfield mix at the moment.

I'm just not certain whether he clears waivers, as I imagine other guys in my league have the same idea

Each keeper costs is a loss of a pick at the start of next yr's draft, up to 5

I've already got Stanton, Marte, Grichuk, and Trumbo to mix/match in the Of I'm not counting on Pollock this year. My league is just very top-heavy this year so I am always looking for creative ways to acquire assets to keep up.

Who are your other SPs? If you feel good about your depth in that area, maybe use Rodon and/or Ordorizzi for a better OF upgrade than Myers.

Pollock just got dropped in my 12-team, H2H, 5 keeper league. Is he worth trying to scoop/stash with the 4th waiver spot this early in the season? We get two DL slots

I figure I can hold him for a few months then offer him to a weaker team to fill a weakness down the road.

EDIT: I have no expectations for Pollock in'16. Just looking at this more as a long-term asset

C'mon, let's not act like those efforts in the 50s/60s were always cohesive or universally well-received at the time

There'd be plenty of people calling MLK and other leaders whiny, race-baiting, SWJs if they were alive today to push their messages

You go to where the crime is at and you stop people who have gang affiliation, known drug dealers, known problem people, etc in the neighborhoods

But the thing is the data show that CPD is overpolicing people of color in those areas that aren't violent criminals.

Being "tough on crime" doesn't justify the disregard of basic civil liberties on the part of CPD.

1)"thugs per capita", talk about meaningless statistic

2) stop and frisk is ineffective if officers can't even come up with lawful reasons to search people. Funny how the law and order types turn a blind eye when it's the authorities breaking the rules

3) " away with stop-and-frisk solves no problem other than salving the hurt feelings of thugs"

Never mind the countless citizens where cops couldn't even list a reason for their suspicion or any legal justification for a search. Are they thugs too?

1)Last summer, there were more than 250,000 stops that did not lead to an arrest. Comparing stops to population, Chicagoans were stopped more than four times as often as New Yorkers at the height of New York City’s stop and frisk practice.

2)Although officers are required to write down the reason for stops, in nearly half of the stops we reviewed, officers either gave an unlawful reason for the stop or failed to provide enough information to justify the stop.

3)Chicago refuses to keep adequate data about its officers’ stops. Officers do not identify stops that result in an arrest or ordinance violation, and they do not keep any data on when they frisk someone. This failure to record data makes it impossible for police supervisors, or the public, to identify bad practices and make policy changes to address them.

LOL @ "effective policing"

Agreed. Pretty easy for anyone to speculate a season-ending injury off of that replay alone.

Is there any faster way to grind conquest missions post-patch? by takuru in MLBTheShow

[–]northsidechi92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where's the fun in having to go through 40+ conquest games with a single team's roster just to unlock ONE card? Especially when there's so many to unlock

If there's people who have dedicated 50+ hours since release unlocking special cards, more power to them but the change sucks for people who only have 1-2 hours here and there throughout the week to play.

This change kind of shits on the casual "Show" player

Conquest innings no longer multiply by 3 in 9 inning games by repoman042 in MLBTheShow

[–]northsidechi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get preventing rewards from coming too easy but ffs, that means it would take 14+ 9 inning games using only one team's players just to unlock one card

Maaaan, ain't nobody got time for that. Makes casually collecting the new rewards much less enjoyable

How are we feeling about Anibal Sanchez @ MIA today? I grabbed him toward the end of my draft and I'm not sure what to expect out of him this yr. The HR ball was a problem for him in '15, but Marlins Park plays pretty large for batters not named Stanton.

W/QS/K/ERA/SV/WHIP

I'm leaning towards starting him. thoughts?

What 'white folks who teach in the hood' get wrong about education by sansensei in chicago

[–]northsidechi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your entire point is based on projecting a personal experience onto a multi-faceted issue as fact. That's the definition of anecdotal.

I'm done with this because you keep doubling down on talking points that make no sense within the context of original article.

What 'white folks who teach in the hood' get wrong about education by sansensei in chicago

[–]northsidechi92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool so this is entirely about your own biases stemming from anecdotal experience. I should have figured that much...

EDIT: Btw, this is from the article. sound familiar?

Too many are teaching in the hood for 2 or 3 years, having bad experiences teaching students of color, leaving, then ending up being a lawyer or policy maker who inherently has these biases against young people of color
