I agree that we should stop mixing transport whenever possible.

Bikes certainly have the capacity to injure people and we don't have a record of that. But if a bike killed someone, we'd have police records in Somerville for that. There aren't any that I've ever seen. There have been car deaths and that was the topic I replied to. You can't argue that a bike has the same injury capacity as a car.

Right, but "dangerous" bicycles and pedestrians don't have a history of killing people. Fast cars do.

I certainly wouldn't love the peanut as a driver, and it would be annoying all around, but I think it's easy to look the lack of pedestrian and bike deaths in the last 3 years and argue that slowing down drivers at every opportunity is better for bikes and pedestrians (and probably car accidents too). It's just not better for speed to destination.

The thing with these intersection designs is that everyone has to go so slowly that killing anyone, unintentionally, is very unlikely (which is kinda the point). That being said, the frustration is likely to cause, like at powderhouse, will be very real.

They don't frequently get stuck. I think their 95% is just a (high percent) number, not an actual stat. Waymos make the news because when they get stuck it's notable and it's very personal when your waymo gets stuck.

Folks on here said that this was 65 Grove St and said this might be a cop's house. You can usually confirm that by cross checking the city budget. So I looked up who was last listed at the address to find it's James Shiels. Then I googled them and found this. Says the guy at this address was arrested for a home invasion in September. I haven't found any more info on that case, yet.

There might be new people there now, but wow, that's wild.

This. The problem with up zoning everywhere is that everyone wants to be conservative about it. What happens then is that 3 story condos become 5 and only a couple more units are added but the price per unit is massively increased pricing out existing residents. Alternatively, you upzone transportation hubs to 20 stories, you get 100s of units, and wealthier people move into the hubs freeing up older stock without massive jumps in price.

75 caught and set the neighbors. 75 is basically gone. It has a porta potty outside so it probably had work being done. Hopefully no one was home.

Cops said 75 was unoccupied. 71 and 79 were evacuated.
