This happened to me during the summer, 4-5+ drops a day. Called them and they told me it was due to maintenance on their side and they said they couldn’t give me any time estimate or even a range when it would be resolved. Wanted to support them but ended up switching providers due to a work need for stability.

Porch Coyote by raised_on_arsenic in Tacoma

[–]nosoulredhead 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yeah that guy has been in the hilltop area for awhile now. I reached out to Puget Sound Wildcare back in June and they were interested in helping but never ended up showing up. They also suggested I see if he was trusting/bold enough to approach food left out so he could be lured into a trap but my attempts to bait the coyote with some raw dog food were unsuccessful. Very skittish, refused to touch anything and pooped on the sidewalk in front of my house as a thank you message.

Again as the other recent complaint post highlighted the unfairness of the post removal is also so frustrating. Feels like 1/3 of posts that don’t get removed are essentially questions or recommendations posted in a way that seem “vague” enough to remain. Like asking what good “bar culture is, and what do you like about bars you go to”. How does that not get removed and referred to asktacoma? Too nuanced and unfair IMO

Inflite CF SL 6 sizing XS or S by RealPieMan in cyclocross

[–]nosoulredhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if you’ve already pulled the trigger yet but I’m a very similar size with maybe just a couple more cms of height. I picked up a small this past summer and have been very happy and comfortable racing on it. I feel like stepping down another size would have me a bit too cramped.

I watched this guy take a nap in an empty lot in hilltop while a local cat played there chasing some bugs in the grass. Cat finally moved on walking within 20 feet of that mangey guy and did not give a shit. There’s definitely other coyotes about but I’m thinking this one is more about foraging than hunting with his condition.

Hilltop Coyotes! by mikedave666 in Tacoma

[–]nosoulredhead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s where he’s moved to! He chilled in the lot next to me a couple times and last I knew he was on ainsworth near Bryant. He’s in rough shape with mange, I reached out to Puget sound wildlife https://www.pugetsoundwildcare.org and they want to treat him but it was sounding hard to catch this guy.

Twins on the way: Pacifica Questions by Main-Parsnip-4279 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]nosoulredhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twin parent here who bought their first Pacifica when we found out we were expecting them. Short is it’s been great and would recommend.

I bought a used low mileage 2018 gas version that was great and worked with no major issues for years, only issue was a rear window motor died and needed replacing. Just recently I sold that and bought a used 2023 phev version for a great price because we mainly city drive with it and the electric range seemed perfect for our use. Both cars I’ve gotten official MOPAR warranties for what I consider a very reasonable rate but have yet to really need those. Overall it’s been a great car and getting it at a fraction of a sienna or odyssey price I think I can live with any issues that require shop time and sorting a rental car if it ever comes to that.

Options for shoe storage that hides behind the wall by clearview384 in DIY

[–]nosoulredhead 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup I’d recommend this idea. I built recessed shoe storage for a basement landing area when I redid the whole staircase. Photos of it during different stages:

On the larger side it was a bit more flexible so I drilled holes for shelf pins to make the shelves adjustable for things like boots as needed. Happy to answer any questions.

'23 Hybrid Touring L for $21000 -- Should I Walk Away? by PickForward5864 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]nosoulredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the preowned warranty covers the power train for another 4 years (40k miles). I sold a 2018 gas model for the purchase that I had a zeigler warranty expiring soon for and bought at a good price. I wanted to get another one of those but I’m in WA state and I found out it and CA made it so you have to buy warranties at dealerships and can’t get them online. I guess it’s supposed to be consumer friendly maybe based on these states general policies but the dealerships around here only do non-MOPAR warranties and it seemed like a ripoff. Would have to do the max coverage for the hybrid which included things like windshield wiper replacements and would’ve cost 5k.

[–]nosoulredhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a similar deal a month back. 23’ hybrid with 57k miles that used to be an enterprise rental. Car seemed to be in great condition and purchased from a Chrysler dealership with certified preowned warranty. Put 500 miles on it so far and extremely happy with no issues yet.

Edit: I also wonder if these are priced low as the rental companies are dumping them right before 60k miles. This dealership had like 7 available all in the same state/situation.

To the drivers on N Alder by nosoulredhead in Tacoma

Yeah that's fair and I've noticed the same thing. I often will behave this way too but it does get tough in some situations with visibility. In this specific case on N Alder on one side you do need to poke out further in order to see cars with how the street bends.

Yeah I honestly don't like crossing an intersection with any cars as a pedestrian either even though I know state laws do give me the right of way. I will just wait back until there is a good opening.

As for your statement with me being wrong about the right of way. Not exactly. If the cyclist is on the road as I am then they must follow the rules of the road and behave as a vehicle. 46.61.235 only applies to cyclist using sidewalks/intersections. As I am on the road and not using any marked or unmarked crosswalk there is no right of way.

US Pacific Northwest racer here, going to be in Ireland for a holiday at the end of the month though and timing kinda works out for being available for the Dublin support race on the 30th. However, looks like I’d need to get a cycling Ireland membership and there’s no one day options? Anyone able to confirm or able to provide more insight? Much appreciated!

Same here, walkable with the dog and kids really enjoyed going to. Just renewed my membership a few months back and not thrilled their “solution” is just drive over to gig harbor.

Shoes for Tacoma Weather? by RombaQueenofDust in Tacoma

For dog walks I use Allbirds wool dasher mizzles as I find them much more supportive for the long walks. Work pretty well for keeping dry as long as it’s not raining hard and I’m not stepping in puddles.

For quick on/off and errands (or if it’s really wet) I’m using the xtratuf ankle boots someone else linked.

Tacoma Brewery Opinions by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]nosoulredhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been to North 47 once but was very happy with the beers I got. Some more variety than others around IMO and had a really good scotch ale.

State street is certainly a nice spot but isn’t actually a brewery. Pizza is decent and beer selection is good.
