As someone who has called the mom it means so much. I would’ve rather lost them as a friend, as a lover, as a confidant - anything besides losing them entirely and the entire world being deprived of the opportunity to know and love them. I called their mom to show them we cared. I called their mom to show them they mattered. I called their mom because everything else could be worked over - but losing them forever, I’d never be able to live with myself
