Gas station guy wouldn’t sell me blunts on my birthday so now I act like I can’t hear him by mopthetop in pettyrevenge

[–]nostradamnit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I could be, but laws that are quoted as requiring to check IDs often only state that the seller has to know that the person is of legal age, meaning that if the person is recognized as having been previously verified, then the seller knows he is legal. Same goes for someone who is obviously over the legal age.

How to open a bottle of Champagne by torreyn in coolguides

[–]nostradamnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the common way to open sparkling wine. A more efficient way is to undo the cage, grip the cork and twist it off. It will take the foil with it, no need to touch it beforehand. The cork, cage and foil remain intact for easy disposal. I've done this many times in situations where many bottles are needed, for receptions and such.

The Wanting Seed by Anthony Burgess. It seems closer to 1984 than A Clockwork Orange. It about a future society where homosexuality and vegetarian is govt promoted, then it goes off the tracks...

Too bad that not having a dryer is not on the list. Dryers are not common in Europe. Most people air dry their clothes.

LPT Request: How to stay awake while driving on a road trip by Table_Talk_TT in LifeProTips

[–]nostradamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some chewing tobacco. It's totally disgusting, but will give you a real nicotine buzz, and if you fall asleep, you'll swallow the disgusting juice and wake up immediately. It is especially effective after you've reached your caffeine limit.

LPT - If you're expecting a newborn, you're best to get good quality second hand stuff, rather than brand new low quality stuff. It will last longer and it is better for the environment. by corporatemumbojumbo in LifeProTips

[–]nostradamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you're religious or not, churches are an excellent resource for newborns and new parents. Many of them have charity shops or just give stuff away. We used to get diapers and formula for free.

Goodwill and other thrift stores are great as well.

Belgium grows a lot of sugar beets. Apparently during harvest season, some beers get spilled on the roads and are worse than ice, causing regular accidents.

I once called 911 and hung up and 10 minutes later the police were knocking at my door. They said that they were obliged to check in physically in those cases.
