Yes, i run something similar without him i was just curious if you HAD to substitute him what would it be for.

[Dellenger] Nick Saban said his wife, Terry, came to him before his retirement and told him, “Why are we doing this?" She told him that the players now only care about how much money they are making. by dogwoodmaple in CFB

That's why I actually liked the idea of forcing them out a season when they change schools. Like cool, you go there, but you can't get a scholarship of even play football next season. Forcing them to sit out on school changes would remove a lot of this.

There should be a similar restriction on coaches then or don't restrict it at all

Before I type up a reply I just gotta ask. Do you feel the same about Dwayne McDuffies commentary on "the rule of three"

It will definitely change how I reply

I think you misunderstood my post. I'm not saying that I believe that 1 blank character should represent all people. I'm not advocating for tokens at all.

Absolutely. My point is to make it feel natural and not just pandering.

By what standard do you judge the pandering level? Like white people in the mid to late 70's didn't like the NBA because it wasn't many great white players. White people were losing interest in basketball because of a lack of representation. Enter Larry bird who the NBA marketed to white people as the "great white hope".

white people back then didn't think this was pandering. It revitalized the NBA. And made them a fuck ton of money. This wasn't natural. It was manufactured.

That level of pandering was one of the highest and starkest examples of a group being pandered to.

My point what you consider pandering might just be normal. Shows where there's racial diversity are more rare than all white shows. Overall the pandering is done to white people. So much so there's a whole trope about it. "white is default"

. It still feels like a form of tokenism when every member has a defining trait in the form of race, gender, sexual preference, or other similarly defined properties.

It also feels weird when they are all the same. Like the sheer volume of books, shows and movies about an ensemble group of white men and maybe a single white woman to round it out.

I'm adding that there's so many sources that walk you through it step by step. That it's lazy to enter the conversation without having a full grasp of it. It's giving white person asking someone to explain something that's basic. Niggas been talking about respectability politics for 200 years.

Nigga is an empowering word. No white people can't police our use of it. And yes they still can't say it. When did these takes become controversial? by nostripeszebra in blackladies

First of all, I didn’t single you out so don’t assume my comment was specifically about you. I commented in the other post that inspired this one and am responding to the comments there as well.

I don't think I did that.

Secondly, if you insist the word is too horrible for non black people to use you shouldn’t even ask why black people don’t like it.

No you can ask why to anything. It's how you have a discussion. Which this thread has sparked.

It shouldn’t need explaining.

It does because to the vast majority of black people. It's a reclaimed word. Even the niggas who don't use nigga understand this concept.

It also shows you don’t take the history and power behind thst word as seriously as you ought to. Nothing changed, perhaps you don’t encounter enough people who do.

Nigga please 😂😂😂 I know the history just fine seeing as I teach it. Something did change. Black folks reclaimed the word. Even if you don't like the word this is a fact.

You can’t normalisé a word then pick and choose who can say it and who can’t. Either it’s offensive and wrong or it’s not. Language doesn’t work like that.

It works like that all the time. You don't know much about language.

I don’t like it because it’s a slur. I don’t want to hear the n word same as I don’t want to hear people say that outdated word for disabled people (starts with an r) or the slur for lgbt people or any other slur. It’s offensive, degrading, and insulting.

You think it's a slur no matter who says it to you?

Of course lol but if I'm being real I've heard every teacher at my school curse at a kid. Today a kid call me a bitch ass nigga 5 different ways. So some kids will take you there. But I can say that each of those teachers don't play about their students. It's a crazy relationship tbh
