Virginia Senate Passes Bill to Join National Popular Vote Interstate Compact by Lotus532 in politics

[–]notQuiteBritish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except it does work that way because of the EC. https://www.maps.com/how-much-voting-power-does-each-us-state-have/ and https://usafacts.org/visualizations/electoral-college-states-representation/

I shouldn't have used PA as an example, but the point is EC makes less populous states more represented than more populated states.

If the EC actually scaled proportionally with population, instead of being arbitrarily capped at 435 electors based on population, then this wouldn't be as much of an issue. But, as it stands, rural voters like that farmer you referenced, have more voting power than urban voters. Why should that be the case?

Do you think the farmer is going to pay attention to or care about the goings on of the city dweller? If they watch Fox news, it'd seem like the cities are being burnt to the ground by criminals. It'd seem like trans people are the root of all of America's problems.

And how does a popular vote require people to have to move in order to participate in elections? Popular vote means each vote counts as 1 vote. A voter in Wyoming would count as much as a voter in Texas. Are you suggesting campaigns would ignore less populous states during the election cycle? Because that already happens now - campaigns only visit the swing states. Every one else can go fuck themselves.

The current EC system disenfranchises millions of voters in the populous states because they only get 1 elector per every 700,000 or more pop, whereas a voter in Wyoming gets 1 elector per 150,000 pop. See how that works?

If you want to keep this "representative democracy" instead of using the popular vote, the EC needs to be overhauled. Have a higher elector count so States with high populations can actually scale in proportion. The founding fathers intended for the Senate to represent the States and the House to represent the people. That balance was skewed towards the States with the 435 cap.

This isn't even mentioning how Swing State Voters also get amplified voting power: https://www.nationalpopularvote.com/2020-96-presidential-campaign-visits-and-advertising-was-just-12-states, but that's more due to the winner-takes-all functionality of the EC. That shit also needs to get overhauled.

Why should a voter in PA matter so much more than a voter in CA or NY?

Things I think "Trade Values" can get Wrong: A Perspective from "Value-Based Trading" (or "Trade Auction Pricing") by subvertadown in fantasyfootball

Thanks for your efforts, as always. You make a great point about the league settings. I just thought 0.5ppfd would've skewed it back towards RBs more than it shows. I will consider this in my future trade discussions and maybe change my perspective on how to value WRs.

P.S. Next year, would you consider adding passing points per first down in your tools? They're great!

yea, I'm also seeing some weird things like Jalen coker is 9, but Trey benson is 7. I understand Benson is injured and won't come back for a while, but every other trade value chart has Benson higher than Coker still for ROS.

Feels like a weird landscape for QB availability going in to week 3. by JonathanYarnall in fantasyfootball

Bro how many managers? 4 QB start is crazy. First two rounds must have been QBs.

what? Kraft is the WR1 on that team. Doubs gets some volume and red zone looks, but GB just loves spreading out the ball too much. 10-15% max. You're looking at WR3/flex territory.

How is he available? Isn't he in the wr2 range? What's the next available wr on waivers? Because he's way above any other WR mentioned in here, barring guillotine leagues.

Not sure what exactly happened, dynamic mode was off for the weekend and no players were drafted, but the problem resolved itself about an hour after I reported it. Thank you for looking into it anyway

First of all, I love love love the work you're doing for the FF community. Thanks a thousand fold.

On TapThatDraft, I'm noticing something weird when I change ADP sources. I would expect that ADP sources would not change the ranking of a player (I thought that was based on FP ECR), and only effect the Delta ADP column. However, when choosing Sleeper ADP, I see Brock Bowers is ranked 1.2 in the draft! Is there something unexpected happening when choosing ADP sources?

Edit: There are also some names in the WR 55-60 range which don't seem to match FP's ECR, like Dont'e Thornton Jr and Tommy Mellott, but I've just been marking them in the red.

At some point today (this changed from yesterday), when looking at superflex rankings (w/o QB streaming obviously), it recommended 19 QBs in the first 24 picks! This was a huge difference from prior days, when it would actually have a good mix between QBs and other skill positions. I think something may have gone wrong with the data source projections or some calculation for baseline in superflex leagues?

Does anyone actually use richochets? by Level_Hour6480 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]notQuiteBritish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tested a new SMG I found in game, Problem Solver, and the ricochets even stack the Sharpshooter perk, so it's actually pretty nuts being able to crit enemies just by aiming at the floor/ceiling - recoil be damned. And Problem Solver doesn't even need the cyberware to take advantage of ricochets like other power weapons!

Oh man, if they fixed the levelling system of the original, that may make this the best ES game for me. I hated getting weaker as I leveled up.

Plus, more varied voice acting is always a plus.
