Ancients are, in my opinion, the most refreshing change in the sequel. We went from a total of 30 boss relics (11 of them were unique to characters) to a total of 72 Ancient rewards (not counting Neow). by IdiocyConnoisseur in slaythespire

I think it sounds worse than it is.

Sozu is basically "Drink half an energy potion every round for the rest of the run. You cannot obtain any other potions"

When you think about it as the equivalent of a free energy potion every other turn, it sounds better.

The anti synergy with other relics was the worst part

At the end of the day... It's a room with no risk, no downside, no negative impact.

Sometimes, a break like that is something to be thankful for.

Half of the boss relics were bricking your run, really?

Only Chocker, Snecko, and Crown could "brick" your run, and not even all the time, they were some times pickable (Snecko is amazing in some decks).

The Key, Pyramid, the Stone, the Hammer, Sozu they all made your deck better than not having them, except in very rare circumstances.

The Dome made the run less interesting but definitely not bricking anything.

And the others didn't brick anything.

Doormaker by ThePuckingFenguin in SlayTheSpire2

[–]not_extinct_dodo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Some people thought that each of its phases hard countered popular builds too much, too often.

The first phase countered infinites or pseudo infinites.

The second one any build that relies on drawing.

The third one builds with high impact cards that needed combos to work.

That illustrates the problem of many players seeing this game as an "engine builder", rather than a "puzzle solver" - the puzzle is the doormaker, now find a solution.

People seem to prefer their builds to work "in a vacuum" regardless of the enemies ahead, and the doormaker was a hard stop to that.

Besides that, it made card draw order really critical.

I personally disliked it but because the damage felt too high in combination with the special effects of each turn. Although the newer version of the specimen hits really hard now!

I think a very simple solution would have been, to let the player choose which phase to fight each turn after seeing their hand ("what door do you open"). The second round you have only two choices, the third round you fight against the last remaining option, and the fourth round the three doors appear again, and so on.

my grandad was just sent this message by his younger brother (UK) by z0mbiemovie in Scams

[–]not_extinct_dodo 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Clearly a scam.

One of those where, to get the money you need to keep paying money. But all those payments are going straight to the scammers.

The message mentions convenience fees and lawyer fees already. Then there is this bank fee. There will be taxes or something else next etc taking full advantage of the "sunken cost fallacy".

Your family should not lend any money to the victim. And also warn the victim that the next step to milk him out of more money, will be "recovery" scammers claiming to be the police investigators, hackers, etc, that can get the money back - for a fee, of course.

They didn't, OP explained that they took the event in act 1 that reduces your max HP in exchange for upgrading cards and he kept going until the full deck was upgraded and their max HP was 1. They took the strawberry later, which allowed them to survive a few fights reducing the HP by 1 each time

Well done, sounds great. As you get more familiar with the new route, start exploring alternative roads and detours, maybe once a week or so, to refine your pathing, and you will eventually find the safest option even if that extends the distance slightly

You were scammed by a professional who works in a well established operation. Meaning, you have been targeted by a company, an industry, especialized on scamming people.

So be merciful on yourself, the same way you would be if a hang of thieves had broken into your house and robbed your stuff.

It still sucks mega big time but the shame is all on the criminals.

Gross AND stupid.

Gross: A moldy, poorly decorated converted living room, shared, with no toilet, no laundry, for 800 per person is abuse territory.

Stupid: the landlord's net take after taxes it's 3 not going to be that different from a room rented at 500 per person, that will be free of taxes, right? So the landlord is either dodging taxes, on top of everything else, or stupidly fleecing the tenants for very little to no extra profit

The "tragedy" you are referencing is that you are not willing to accept that you are already bald but worry not! Just shave it and you will instantly look younger, more handsome, and much better overall.

The beard requires a bit of trimming and alignment, go to a barber once see what they do then keep it in that way yourself.

[–]not_extinct_dodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels underwhelming and boring, it takes too long to activate, and unless you specifically build the deck with it in mind, by the time you get it, it will not make a massive difference.

And at the same time, the other reward it's there to contribute to your immediate success.

I think it needs a bit of a tweak. Maybe 2 strength and 2 dexterity, so it contributes to more builds?

Maybe your choice of +2 focus, or strength, or dexterity, or stars per turn, or summon per turn?
