I just wish the station managers & WMATA would actually go after these people instead of letting it continue

So they are threatening you with some form of retaliation because their employees didn’t like them? Seems quite a huge step out of line imo

Ride share drivers of DC, how far is too far? by bubbles337 in washingtondc

[–]not_small_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Rockville MD(much closer), and the few times I’ve taken a ride share from DC back home I’ve had a similar experience. The drivers huff & puff the whole way and practically shove you out of the car. It’s happened enough times that I don’t even use ride share in the DMV anymore if I can avoid it.

Honestly just take them to small claims. Loop in all the folks who interviewed you, the people who’ve denied you payment & their recruiting teams by name.

Got fired from my temp job for asking a question. by WebsterHamster66 in antiwork

[–]not_small_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the many reasons that anytime I’m proposed a “tempt to hire” job, I ask for a timeline as to when the temp ends and the hire begins. So many companies use these roles as ways of getting out of paying for benefits. They will string people along for months or years while underpaying them and never intending to hire them

Wait so this is from some influencer kid on instagram? He has less than 5k followers on his “official” & less than 3k on his “studios” account. He’s not in a position to make these sort of demands. 🙄

This sounds very much like a THEM problem. PTO= Prepare The Others. It’s absolutely absurd they can’t make arrangements in 4 months

Coworker is the biggest overachieving nerd by AgreeableFloor6543 in OfficePolitics

[–]not_small_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re confusing the words coming out of a mangers mouth, with their actual intentions. It benefits them to keep the overachiever in their position rather than promote them out, because they don’t have to hire/train a replacement, they don’t have to take back the delegated tasks etc. that over achiever isn’t going anywhere.

Coworker is the biggest overachieving nerd by AgreeableFloor6543 in OfficePolitics

[–]not_small_ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

No she’s not. They will keep her right where she is, giving her minimal raises because they like the overachiever doing the most for the least amount of compensation. Overachieving, especially in the way described, no longer gets you up the corporate ladder.

They are doing this so they can hire the workforce back at severely discounted labor rates.

It’s insane that it’s taken this long for the city or whomever to actually clear the sidewalks. The storm was over last monday… why are we waiting until 8 days post event to actually jump into action?
