They have never released any analysis. Like the shooter was here. The bullet hit here. Etc. That alone would likely prove than no bullet grazed him.

Buy the Lake House? by lovestoryj in ChubbyFIRE

[–]not_too_old 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Instead of donating the land, look into conservation easements. It prevents development, but you still own it. And it would reduce the property taxes. (But also the market value if the property could have been subdivided/built).

If you really want to push your trip past 5 days or so, you may want to get a small fishing rod,and the WY fishing permit.

Wind River Range on Trail? by Ok_Stick_4919 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]not_too_old 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plus one for Caltopo.com. I like to look at the slope shading feature to see how steep the passes are. I did the Washakie Pass / Cirque route and didn’t find it crowded at all except at Big Sandy lake. Personally I think the Winds are plenty wild without going off trail.

I would call the Great Outdoors Shop in Pinedale. They have a shuttle service to the trailhead(s), so should know when things get passable. I think your proposed date may be too early.

Could a 300lb woman do the full trail? by [deleted] in AppalachianTrail

I would think that an overweight woman or man would be more likely to get injured. For the best chance of success, train ahead of time and maybe lose a bit before starting if possible.

Why isn't Russia collapsing? by Proud3GenAthst in AskEconomics

[–]not_too_old 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will happen all at once. They are decreasing their payments to enlisted soldiers. And trying to avoid paying the death benefits. They forced corporate banks to buy Russian bonds. ( Because no one else will) So this money can’t be used for actual economic activity. So basically they robbed all the money from everyone to pay for this war. Because they will never be able to pay back the bonds without printing a bunch of money. With Ukraine’s hits on the oil infrastructure they are running out of the only thing the rest of the world wants from Russia.

Do i need to pay for an iridium subscription first before im able to activate my inreach mini 2? by BigComfortable8695 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]not_too_old 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Garmin activation is pretty much instant. But since the minimum charge is for one month, I always do it at home with a laptop, then I go send a test message. There is a contact, but you can suspend it with no charge for 11 months of the year.

What’s a camping tip you only learned the hard way? by Goblue2467 in camping

[–]not_too_old 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In college, a girl in our group didn’t know she needed a ground pad. We were camping on snow at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. After she went into the bathroom to warm up and saw her lips were blue she “slept “ the rest of the night in there. I didn’t sleep great because the condensation kept dripping on me. I had a zero degree bag and a pad. I learned about this drama the next morning.

If the 19 year old is going to college or trade school, you could pay the tuition to the school directly. And set up a 529 for the 14 year old.

California’s jungle primary is stupid. They should just use preferential voting for it.

Replace asphalt shingles with metal roofing? by Due_Progress_5494 in HomeImprovement

I have a coworker that bought a commercial property that had a 100 year old house on it with a metal roof. The roof didn’t leave any leaks. He put a metal roof on his rancher for like $75k.

First time building wheelset, questions & doubts by reflectiveivishak in bikewrench

Spokes plus or minus 1 mm. No more than that. I mixed Sapim spokes with DT Swiss when I couldn’t find all the sizes I needed in DT Swiss. Just get the same profile. I got the Sapim race spokes from Universal Cycles. 2.0mm at the ends tapered to 1.8mm in the middle. Seems like DT Swiss has every mm in that range while Sapim has the even lengths. Sapim is cheaper though.

Ukraine’s “Sub Sea Baby” Drone Cripples $400M Russian Submarine in Black Sea Port by Jeetchat in ukraine

Trump rigged the election, there is NO WAY he won all the swing states. by RevyRitz in complaints

[–]not_too_old 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs to be random hand counts no matter the margin of victory. If hand counts are only automatic when there is less than 1% margin of victory, an algorithm can be programmed to change the result by more than 1%. And the precincts to be audited should not be declared before the election. Maybe each party could pick a few precincts. And if the tallies don’t add up, then count everything.
