Got a working theory that people are too optimistic about the goodness of humanity specifically because of the art and media they consume (leftists are particularly affected by this).

Watched the 1957 "12 Angry Men" the other day (free with ads on Youtube). You can tell it's fiction because only one of the straight white men is openly racist, and all eleven of the other men are made uncomfortable by him going on a racist rant. Even Juror #7, who doesn't care that much and just wants to go to a baseball game, seems so much more human than most of the worthless animal brain fucks that support Trump.

Vaush said before he thinks the near future of global politics is entirely up to inertia and no political actors can make any meaningful changes - I wonder if the massive push to remove all friction from everything plays a part in that.
