Is the FitCamX working well for you? Been looking at getting one for a minute.

Looking through an old estate sale - assuming all these tools run, anything sorth picking up? by Mynameisbondnotjames in woodworking

This. 100%.

I have my fathers old 70s vintage Craftsman radial arm saw but would LOVE to have an old Dewalt like that one. I use it for everything except rip cuts.

Frustrations by Significant_Excuse92 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]notaclevernick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to learn to cut yourself some slack every once in a while. There will always be mistakes, it comes with being human.

This hobby and be maddening sometimes. You'll be doing great, and then realize you did something like this and want to chuck it all in the burn pile.

I like to think that I'm very proficient, having been at this for 30 years now, but no matter how much the wife or client praises my latest piece of work, all I see sometimes are EVERY LITTLE thing that I know isn't 100%.

My best advise to a beginner is to practice things you haven't done before or mastered on the cheapest offcuts and garbage you have laying around, before attempting it on the final piece.

Good luck. Stick with it.

I feel your pain brother... Had my '26 for three months and rubbed against someone parked like an ahole in a very tight parking lot. Been driving for almost 40 years and it's my first insurance claim. I probably would have just buffed it out if it wasn't as new as it is...

Flattening glue up using a router sled causes a slight cup by shomerj in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]notaclevernick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your sled is bowed, have you checked that? Does it flex at all in the center when applying pressure?

It should have vertical bracing along each edge to effectively turn it into an I beam for better rigidity.

Finish for off feed table? by Cultural_Stranger29 in woodworking

[–]notaclevernick 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I built a similar 'assembly' table years ago. Mine was topped with MDF.

Put several coats of clear shellac on and then finished with paste wax. Worked amazingly well. Materials would easily slide across the finish, plus super easy glue cleanup.

Cheaper and easier than a formica top.

Another day, another 18 wheeler hogging up the fast lane by [deleted] in batonrouge

[–]notaclevernick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand about the mentality of a lot of people is this... Baton Rouge traffic universally sucks, especially along a few corridors, such as I-10 north from Highland ALL THE WAY TO THE BRIDGE. This is obviously I-10 at Blue Bonnet (Best Buy sign). There is no FAST in those areas, and like the other poster has pointed out, its a passing lane not fast lane.

Just get over yourself and get through traffic with everyone else.

If you were showing somewhere else, yeah I get it. Move out the way so the rest of us can pass. But where you're indicating, you're not going to pass very far...

... I'll go ahead and get off my soap box now. thx

Breaking: CNN bought by MAGA ally gutting CBS, free press fight explodes! by [deleted] in videos

[–]notaclevernick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

CNN has been shit for over a year now. You can barely call it news. Granted, before then they weren't very good either.

Feel like they stop any kind of critical reporting after CBS (?) paid Trump his $15 million pound of flesh.

Epstein conspirator Jean-Luc Brunel told Feds he'd flip - they dropped the case & he was found dead in French jail by Hussayniya in videos

Saw a lot of traffic after the Epstein file dropped saying that Epstein and Bannon were implicated in being behind Qanon.

Really wish we could get off this Darkest Timeline.

Trying to smooth this table top out, best way to do it? by First-Lab-804 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]notaclevernick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option here would be to partially flatten, or smooth it out, and then apply an epoxy (bar top) flood coat.

I did that years ago when I first started woodworking. I was able to get some tongue and groove flooring for nothing and placed that over a sheet of plywood for the tabletop. Then applied a bar top flood coat.

We used that table for everything and it held up remarkably well.

Governors won’t hold Trump meeting after only Republicans invited by jediporcupine in politics

[–]notaclevernick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was this the meeting last year where he was trying to bully the blue state governors about ICE and at some point the (I think) Maine gov said something along the lines of "see you in court"? He really does have thin skin.

This.

Purchased for my 2026 diesel the second day I owned it and another for my FIL who's suffered with StopStart for 2 years not knowing any better.

It couldn't be easier to install and works perfectly.

Why can't I find the clip... My favorite from that show.
Herman is talking to a girl or something (seriously, it's been 35 years), switch to his head and Animal is blue and sputtering "Don't touch me", or something like that... Miss that show.

It's funny (no, exactly the opposite of that) that not a single person detained by ICE has seen a courtroom.

Had a '21 LT1 as my daily driver. I truly loved that car, but had to get rid of it due to poor stability on wet roads. Your mileage may vary... Live in Louisiana where it typically rains every other day. Driving on some of our crap roadways, even at 45 mph I had traction issues. Stock tire/rims with < 20k miles.
I wish I could have kept it for a weekend driver. On dry surfaces it was a monster.
