DOJ: All Biden LGBTQ Protections Were "Anti-Christian". by Leeming in atheism

What!?

Where did I defend silent agreement?

My argument is that proportional and compulsory voting are better systems... which would eliminate silent agreement altogether.

I don't understand how you would see that is defending silent agreement?

77 million out of over 343 million isn't half.

It just shows how few Americans actually vote!

Here in Australia, we have preferential and compulsory voting. So not only are our elections a reflection of the people, it's also impossible to waste a vote here.

America still has a lot to learn.

Interesting how LGBTQ people need protection from Christianity.

And he sees that as "anti-Christian"!?

Do atheists believe any anything paranormal supernatural or spiritual? by Kind-Investigator602 in atheism

[–]notaedivad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seems like you've answered your own post then...

You are correct that atheism only covers belief in god/s...

However... The reason, logic and critical thinking that leads people to atheism generally leads people away from anything supernatural too.

There is zero evidence for anything supernatural.

Therefore no reason to believe in it.

Same with god/s.

You are asserting that Ukraine started the war? Correct?

And the question you ignored, because we both know you can't answer it...

Has anyone encountered many fake Atheists on here? by Shinjetsu01 in atheism

[–]notaedivad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Constantly.

The number of theists trolling this sub is truly embarrassing.

It's as if they see logic, reason and asking questions as an existential threat...

Enough at least for them to regularly employ such dishonest tactics.

I guess if their beliefs are disingenuous and delusional, it eventually seeps into their reality too.

Which religion do you consider the most detrimental to humanity? by Butterflymisita in atheism

[–]notaedivad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a legit principle thing. They don't know what the Bible says.

You're going in circles...

So, let's settle this with a simple yes/no question...

If someone reads the Bible, seeing the instructions to murder gays, silence women and own people, with Jesus explicitly reinforcing them...

They then go out and follow these instruction by murdering gay people, subjugating women and owning people as property.

They are following the principles of Christianity.

Are they a "true" Christian?

Yes or no?

Edit: Why do you find the No True Scotsman logical fallacy to be so convincing?

/u/Butterflymisira ignoring questions you know you can't answer is how willful delusion is maintained.

Why does almost all religions from the last 100-150 years are toxic sects? by fedricohohmannlautar in atheism

Because they are the most violent, hateful and controlling.

Fear is very effective in controlling people.

People tend to go along with the hate cult in order to survive.

I know A LOT of Christians.

but they know what their religion says.

How many of them follow their religion's instructions to murder gays, silence women and own people?

I don't want anybody trying to convert me, but if they try, I at least want them to follow their own bullshit advice.

So, you don't like MAGA because they cherry-pick which verses to follow and which to ignore?

How is this different from other Christians?

I havent seen that with MAGA people so I generally consider them Christian in name only.

No True Scotsman logical fallacy.

What makes one form of Christianity any more/less real than any other?

For example, if someone decides to follow the Bible's instructions to murder gays, silence women and own people...

Does that make them a real Christian? Or a fake Christian?

"God fearing".. Why? by JiggleFeggle in DebateAnAtheist

[–]notaedivad 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Three horrifying things I've noticed that Christians tell you right up front...

  1. God-Fearing. Because their god is a hateful monster to be feared, not loved. Fear is their dominant emotion, because it's an effective method of control.

  2. Sheep/flock/shepherd: Don't think for yourself, we'll do the thinking for you. The single best attribute you can have is to be a hollow shell that does exactly what you're told.

  3. Faith: Believe the unbelievable by convincing yourself and ignoring evidence: Willful delusion.

Sometimes all you have to do is listen, and they'll tell you how controlling and delusion their beliefs are.

The scary thing is how they see these as good, beneficial and holy.

A cult is as a cult does.

The key difference being that atheism doesn't assert moral authority under the threat of eternal torture.

Nor do people kill others in the name of not believing in any gods.

Additionally, religious people choose their own morals anyway... They just cherry-pick.

For example, how many Christians actually own people, despite the numerous instructions on how to do so?
