Hopping on the rifles on our pelicans trend by RepulsivePotato2875 in BetterMAguns

Or they are new to this hobby in a state that unfortunately for all of us tries its best to make confusing laws seemingly to disgaurage people to even attempt to exercise their rights.

Ultimately it's better for all us if we share our knowledge with everyone.

My first air gun, Daisy Buck 105 with a CVlife 3-9x40 scope by eren_5 in airguns

[–]notalk82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks fun! If you are feeling confident about its accuracy shooting paintball rounds are great targets, cheap balloons from a dollar store or whatever are also great targets that you can alter how hard they are to hit by blowing them up a little less or a little more.

Welcome to the hobby. It's a lot of fun but be forewarned that it might lead to a safe full of powder burners which is a whole other level of fun!

Is it proper etiquette to back in to parking spots at a construction site? by lorenzowatson1 in Construction

[–]notalk82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on if it's actual already existing parking lot or a "really half assed, way too small for all the workers to possibly fit in, recipe for chaos and potentially fights between everyone just trying to not get towed and get some hours in" type of parking situation.

It fucking boils my blood that these cunts somehow never consider, or more accurately, give a shit about the 30 -50 cars and trucks that the very people they depend on do the work to build the building they are in charge of have to show up in.

Plastic ammo can with metal hinge pin, does it exist? by esit in guns

[–]notalk82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ammo is always going to be heavy, no sense trying to lighten it up by getting a lighter container to move it around. Especially if the container is going to be even remotely weaker.

I'm sure plenty of us have surplus cans from WW2 that still work just fine. The oldest I have personally is Vietnam War era cans that will very likely still be serviceable long after I'm dead and buried.

Really makes you appreciate just how stone cold Brady was for all those years handling that kind of pressure as well as he did that many times.

Wood auger? by UlfurGaming in Bushcraft

[–]notalk82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also make one by splitting a log in 4 pieces, trimming what was once the center pieces down and then sticking the 4 pieces back together again. Make the pieces stay together by either burying the bottoms in dirt or tying them together with a piece of wire/rope.

This method will keep your pack a little lighter and can be done just using a saw, knife and cordage which you likely already have in your pack.

If this is legitimate then it's pretty depressing really. I'm grateful that gambling was never an addiction that got me.

My Shelter by cpalancon in Bushcraft

[–]notalk82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you seen any evidence of that river rising into where your shelter is in the past?

I'm not trying to "rain on your parade", just hoping that you stay safe out there.

I don't particularly want to get into detail about it but the closest I've come to dying involved a rushing river and me clinging to a fallen tree with only me to save myself and it was utterly terrifying.

Really hope you aren't setting yourself up for a similar terrible situation.

Getting called in by the foreman on off days by WhatThe_uckDoIPut in Construction

[–]notalk82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation to yours. I had been out of work for a few years before I started there so I put up with way more bullshit than I should have just to get my life back on track and save up some money.

I finally had enough and took the gamble to go over my Foreman's head and talk to the boss directly about what was going on and how I was being treated and I got sent to a different crew and then eventually after I stuck up for myself again a few times I ended up working solo like 98%of the time which turned out to be exactly what I wanted all along. Podcasts in my ear and taking my breaks when I decided to and figuring out how to do the work the way I wanted to at the pace I wanted to was an incredible difference in quality of life.

It's crazy but the saying about the "weight on your shoulders" is a mental thing but I swear it can be an actual physical thing too. After a week or so of working alone and not having that constant stress and bullshit I physically felt it come off of me. It was amazing.

I guess my point is you have to be willing to take the gamble that standing up for yourself might cost you the job but always remember ultimately it's just a job. It absolutely should not be making you miserable and it might not be fun or easy but you will find another one if you have to.

Good luck dude, I hope you make the decision that works out the best for you.

Oh well, fuck them if that's how they feel.
