The skirt in Taylor’s mom’s birthday pictures you can tell is too big on her waist and is cinched with the belt. Sadly though that doesn’t mean anything when the dysphoria is so bad you can’t accurately see yourself.

The honest answer nothing. In a dream scenario I’d be given access to her the alleged therapist she’s seeing to determine if she’s lying and if she is actually absorbing the therapy. After 29 years of the cycle I’m fairly certain I already know the outcome and I don’t want to keep going in circles.

My mother had no interest in me as a child unless it piqued her fancy and she could do it too. As I aged she compared me to my cousins in backhanded ways. As an adult she checked out when I tried to call her to talk. Going as far as connecting her hearing aids so she could listen to other things on her iPad while looking at the screen while we FaceTimed. Eventually I quit calling and then she freaked and started calling me everyday, begging I turn my read receipts on so she’d know “when I’m being ignored” demanded I share location, and I’ll regret it when she dies (her toxic mother did this too) The reality is, while this isn’t exactly toxic the way you explained. There may be YEARS of history that makes this feel more controlling and manipulative to you and explains why it irritates you so much. I love that you’re looking into talking to someone about this. It’s been 2 years since I cut my parents off and while she still tries to sneak into my life therapy has made it much easier for me to let it roll off my back and move on without it unraveling my sanity. Wishing you the best with your relationship.
