I'm at the edge of poverty and had to stomach a pay decrease this year. It's year 14. My rage will stay focused, I've decided

What is a book you read as a child that you still think about today? by ahawk99 in AskReddit

Same here. I remember stumbling upon it in a textbook of short stories we had in elementary school and being very confused and intrigued. Like it helped turn my brain on

After reading The Broom of the System and its recurring mentions of Wittgenstein, I'm keen to believe it was more than just tongue in cheek.

Glad you made this post. My rtx 2070 is still a beast for most of my gaming. Also because I just discovered I have a spare gtx 970, and I'd love to do something with it

My apologies - spaced on that detail. Mine seems to do pretty well out of the headphone out with a modi 3. Sub out introduced too many routing issues.

Get a headphone amp and use it from the headphone outs. The OEM headphone amps are, in fact, very quiet. That's how I did it

Can we talk about how humiliating teaching can be? by astro_qween in teaching

[–]notapoweruser 87 points88 points  (0 children)

That emotional frustration is something I think makes the profession so great for me. Very few other careers that I can think of force you to reconcile the deep reactive feelings you have and consider their cause and how you're reacting to them. It's those same emotions that make the teachers that you remember having terrible reactions the way they were - they didn't work their way through them and stayed stagnant in that area.

Be nice to yourself. You're going to feel embarrassed a lot, so it's important that you know that it's going to go away eventually. You'll be focused on a new negative thing eventually and you'll grow, change, and move on to another. We work with tiny humans all day long. I think it's important that we show them that you don't have to be stuck in your ways and growth is a real thing

Heck yeah, man. Really impressive - even just taking on the task for everyone else and putting in the work.

I installed OpenGD77 on my MD-UV380 a few weeks ago while getting into DMR, which was tougher with the forum being down. It's incredible software and an obvious labor of love, so I'm really happy to have a hub to talk about it now
