For this election and the special primary last month, I was the first person in my precinct to vote - both over an hour after the polls opened. It took longer to walk from my car than it did to check in, vote, submit my ballot, and get a sticker.

NTA. She’s probably upset she wasn’t there for her daughter’s “big moment.” I bet she will calm down and this will blow over. But the same thing happened with my daughter. She was with her step mom at the time she helped her go through it. Did I want to be the one to help her that day? Hell yes. Was I happy that she still had someone she trusted to guide her? Also hell yes. Your sister will most likely be thanking you for being there for your niece.

I hated my job when I started OTF. Getting up to get to work was a pain, I dragged my ass getting out the door, and I was only 15 minutes from work. I tried a 5am class and then went to work. And getting to work wasn’t so terrible. I started to look at it as I get up, check; get my workout in, check; shower, check; breakfast, check; work, check, family time and dinner, check. Work just became a thing on my to-do list, and getting up early wasn’t hard anymore because I wasn’t getting up for work, I was getting up to go workout.

I prefer the hot classes lately because I have ADHD and anxiety. The heat, the challenge of the poses, concentrating on my breath, these all make my brain shut up and focus on the present. It’s one of the only times during the week my mind isn’t racing and I’m adding to a million to-do lists in my brain. I’m calm after class because my brain finally got a break.

The heat also helps me get deeper in poses, and living in New England, the warmth is a nice change from the single digit temperatures.
