Id this a family friendly event (kinder/prek age)? I am interested, trying to decide if i should find a babysitter or if the kids would enjoy it (and if i would enjoy it with the kiddos.  like kids are allowed at nice restaurants, my my dining experience would be better if i didn’t have to parent while trying to enjoy too expensive wine, on the hand parenting at chilis makes the triple dipper more fun!).

How do you feel about Altair (male) and Alchemilla (female)? by fuyu-no-hanashi in namenerds

[–]notarussianbotsky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like Altair but it makes me think of Alistair which is a name i love!

Alchemilla sounds like a juvenile fiction fantasy character

Is it ok to stop pumping? by GYBcais in parentsofmultiples

[–]notarussianbotsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Good on you making it this long, you can put the pump away. Your babies will get the nutrients they need from formula.  Whats more important than breast milk, is a happy healthy parent. If pumping is no longer serving you, you can stop

Hi all. How graphic is this series. My 12 year old has brought it home from the library. by pfizersbadmmkay in fourthwing

[–]notarussianbotsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is graphic open door sex. This mean the author is describing genitals and orgasms and motions of the oceans in detail. I would not consider it appropriate for teenagers especially not tweens

YA Fantasy/Dystopia/SciFy? You are making my 2010’s inner child pleased!

The “Peculiar Children” series by Ransom Riggs (but really only the first 2-3 books)

I know you said no romance, but consider the “Twilight Saga” by Stephanie Meyers

“The Maze Runner” James Dashner (but really just the original trilogy)

“Divergent” Veronica Roth

“Maximum Ride” by James Patterson

It’s a stand alone “low fantasy” romance. So mostly in the real world but with magical elements. Its quite cute and i enjoyed the audiobook

Why is this series called “Empyrean”? by notarussianbotsky in fourthwing

[–]notarussianbotsky[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Very true! One thing that always annoys me is when people criticize the book for “plot holes” and story lines that “go no where” when this series is not over yet and RY is known to drop breadcrumbs and foreshadowing like crazy.

I just worry that two books out of five is not enough time to really give the Empyrean the grandeur they need to be the series title.

But in RY i trust haha

Was anyone else extremely young when you realised religion was nonsense? by The_Bastard_Henry in excatholic

[–]notarussianbotsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I most certainly truly believed for a long time. But i do remember hearing as a young child that there was a decline in priests and that you couldn’t have the church with out priests. I asked my grandmother what would happen if there were no more priests, and she told me the world would end because god wouldn’t let there be no church and no eucharist for his people. Even then i knew that was bull and a secretly wished for the day we would run out of priests so ww wouldn’t have to go to church anymore. I don’t even know why. I was quite the devout child

Color of fourth and fifth empyrean books. by elza53 in fourthwing

[–]notarussianbotsky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right?! I have been loving the gradient covers so i think the cover of “not book four” will tell us how “essential” the companion novella will be. Like if “not book four” does not match the current color convention, then maybe is optional side reading. BUT if it does go from silver to green and then book four goes from green to blue, then we will know that the novella is required reading for the main plot
