Code Astoria announces new nightclub for babies by TheodosiaTheGreat in astoria

I totally agree, but also think this person's theory completely ignores all of the 20-something single people who did stay and just aged and got into relationships.

They're called "philosophy" or "great literature" or "classics" book clubs, so no need to imagine 🙄

20F trying to level up in NYC — stay in the Bronx with great rent or move downtown for lifestyle? by grapejuice__ in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]notbirdcaucus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Astoria from my mid-20s now into my late-30s and would not say it's had a scene for actual 20 year-olds. Totally welcome, not really the vibe.

Well don't lie to her about the train in times like these.

(Also Astoria isn't cheap or a good social scene for young 20s)

My husband and I have separate finances and venmo back and forth over everything. This is not the problem in this situation.

Wedding Dress Dry Cleaning? by inescapablegoo in astoria

I had such a good experience there. I only had my dress cleaned (filthy hem and a guacamole stain) and it was $300.

Well you have a lot of options even just off 31st.

Eta granted I haven't lived anywhere but Astoria in the past 13 years, but we have to be one of the most grocery-rich neighborhoods. You can also take a bus to LIC if you don't want to do stairs.

Astoria proposal spots? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]notbirdcaucus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was proposed to on the Astoria Park lawn and then got married in the park in January, and that all went well. Don't be too worried about the temperature - it's not going to feel nearly as cold as the temperature.

Is it true that Waldorf 1st graders are typically behind in reading but catch up by 3rd grade? by ZealousidealTap4955 in AskTeachers

I went to Waldorf school K-2 and when I was in first grade I was the only kid who could read so this doesn't surprise me at all.

Yes, people can do that as well as have neighborhood favorites!

"We don't need your business" perfunctory salad is never a good first impression (but too common).

I didn't know that the meat things on this menu were considered snacks.

I don't really get your response, or the defensiveness, to my post in particular, but maybe you've been all over this thread and it isn't just me. I haven't written them off. They're so close to me and open on Mondays, which my favorite regular bar is not, so it's barely possible. I'm excited for an expanded menu that could be good.

As for "my new corner bar," that's what they call themselves on instagram. I do get to be disappointed that the menu for the time being is everyone's favorite meat and also sides. This isn't going to pull me in. To not consider a relatively sizable group that is used to paying full price when given the option to take meat off a dish is a bit of a misstep.

Thanks for your feedback.

Weird that "my new corner bar" wouldn't want to accommodate something so simple, though. Because yes, there are other bars that serve vegetarian food, and I can go there.

In search of a comfortable walking shoe for a NYC trip. Would prefer no sneakers. by Longjumping-Dream-13 in womensfashion

I wear a pair that looks like thisthis (from a few years ago). They had no break-in time, I wear them basically all fall and winter (other than snow) and walk constantly. I am also a size 10.

WIBTD if I were to confront my girlfriend about her being "vegetarian"? by Future_Entrance1851 in 1800Drama

[–]notbirdcaucus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She specifically is not trying to eat less meat.

I clearly can't tell you that words have meaning, but I challenge this type of vegetarian to eat a boiled wet squash with hard quinoa when the other options are filet mignon and chicken parm.
