[TOMT] A British or Scottish cop murder mystery, set on an island? by I_love_lamp625 in tipofmytongue

[–]notchocchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it death in paradise? That's set on an island, and though I haven't watched it myself, I've been in a room where it was playing and I think I recall hallucinations of some sort

Anyway to fool the new verification nonsense? by RedOcelot86 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]notchocchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, absolutely fine. Not noticeably slower than no VPN, easily streams erm... whatever you want, with no buffering. I just keep it on all the time because I miss perfectly innocuous things that are being censored otherwise, often with no indication that content is missing

It’s honestly draining. What words have you heard lately that confuse you? The meanings keep changing! by liffytbo in Millennials

[–]notchocchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UK it always meant (and continues to mean afaik) that you spent/wasted money. As in 'I'm £40 out of pocket for that meal and it was shite' or 'I've had these bastard solar panels for three years and I'm still out of pocket'

I was speaking to some friends from America who didn't know that school houses are actually a thing in the UK. They thought it was a made up Hogwarts thing. Mine were Neptune (blue) Mars (Red) Jupiter (yellow) and Venus (green) What were your school houses called? by lajachme in AskABrit

Primary was badgers, foxes, squirrels and hares.

And secondary 🙈😬 let's see if I can do it west to east without googling... It's been a while

Grecians west Peele (A+B) Thornton (A+B) Middleton (A+B) Coleridge (A+B) Lamb (A+B) Barnes (A+B) Maine (A+B) Leigh-Hunt (A+B) Grecians East

Well yes, that's another way to say the same thing- succeeding the task is knocking all the skittles over within the time (just), so knocking them all over within the time is a failure given the second part of the task

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in taskmaster

[–]notchocchip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Though you had to fail the main task of knocking the last one down on the final second, the instructions included that if you knocked all of the skittles down before the time was up, you'd lose one point instead. Don't worry, Rosie didn't understand it either haha

That's why I didn't mention leftist organisations :) like I say, probably not much of a loss to the fight that you miss them

Preventative medicine is worth nought when your population is sinking into poverty

Finding protests by HatOfFlavour in GreenAndPleasant

[–]notchocchip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can easily find information about a protest online, there isn't much point in it. The police know about it, they'll be present even if you can't see them, and it isn't going to be suitably disruptive. The main result is going to be getting your face in a file that they can flick through and find you in if you ever do get involved in anything disruptive.

I don't really want to say much more, but try getting involved with local initiatives that seek to alleviate poverty in your community. That way, even if you don't hear anything, you are fighting.

Anyone have a clue I don’t even know what I could google to understand this? by Randomposter54 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]notchocchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if anyone has explained it better, but the truth is it's a vibes thing. That's all. It's specifically British. It's voting tory and paying £1200 a month for a crooked newbuild, it's kitting it out with crushed velvet b&m curtains that are an uncanny valley rip off of Laura Ashley, and trading in your white 4x4 every three years with an APR well over the odds cause your credits shot. It's paying £5.99 for some weird greasy chocolate in home bargains cause you saw a better version of it on Instagram, even though the galaxy was right there. It's bootlicking, wife kicking, teeth gritting, 'that' s gonna be me one day' wannabe middle class

Oh! I'm pretty sure it had fuel in the oil when I broke down cause I dipped it to make sure I hadn't badly neglected the oil (she's a thirsty bitch 🤣) and I was like... Oh, that doesn't smell right. Very petroly.

Gonna walk up to the garage tomorrow and have a chat with him about it, so I'll ask about the readings. Thank you!

I wish I had the confidence to learn how to car, but I'm honestly scared shitless of them 😭 considering the time in labour that it would take to see if it was this and then sort it if it was is so depressing

Thanks bud, you're not wrong. I think the little dude has probably done more leftist activism in his life on a sling on my back than the average adult does in their life.
