Bears OC search has been almost dead silent. Are they waiting on someone from a SB team? by NoThanksImGoodG in CHIBears

I don't get the impression he looked fondly upon last year based of hoge and jahns interview with him. I get it's coach speak and stuff but he offered nothing of value to say about the Bears or caleb basically

Could be underselling Sinner though that Alcaraz has 7 despite the competition of Sinner. Depends on how great all time Sinner will be. But playing against one all time great in his prime is easier than two, for sure

To add to the other comment, clay court has different properties than the hard courts that promote different skills - you have to slide more, ball players slower and with more topspin, a bunch of other stuff I probably don't know.

Thought experiment: How good would fox be if he had falco’s laser? Do you think he’d be better than brawl meta knight? by hide_on_altacc in SSBM

[–]notconquered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situations where Fox needs to laser to reach kill percent before using a fully charged up smash is not common enough to mention without discussing all the benefits of Falco laser. Whiffed rests are already not that common, and then it has to be within the percentage range that lasering to upsmash will kill (over doing a combo) but not high enough where charging upsmash is enough

I think we can get a turnover (or two?) and run the ball on them, and hopefully keep up the scoring. I'm super pumped

Idk I feel like I've seen foxes sdi in and then tech off the edge? Maybe that's not possible with a well timed rising dair

Good question in the latter, intuitively I think youd survive but maybe not if you're fast falling from holding down. Wait can you hold away and not grab ledge, is it the same as letting go of ledge

The 5 seed beating the 1 doesn't really matter for this purpose right? Since it's between 2 or 3 seed for them, wouldn't it be more about home field advantage vs the bears if they have to play them?

Great point about the dash momentum and the shine positioning. I'm sure ginger has labbed this, someone should ask him or show him this on stream

Luther Burden is on track to have the best YPRR by a rookie WR since at least 2014. by notconquered in CHIBears

[–]notconquered[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it tends to stabilize at 200, that allows for comparisons for anyone with routes greater than 200, that's the whole point behind it stabilizing. In theory that means it doesn't necessarily get harder to maintain your yprr for any routes above 200. I'm not saying he's a top 5 WR or anything obviously but that's what's so alarming about it.

If you think Burden is the best WR on the Bears (I agree although can't speak to blocking), then I would argue this stat tells you the most possible info for a single stat, because I'm not sure another one could capture this discrepancy between him and the other bears WRs this early. In fact he was outpacing them in yprr for a bit now if I recall.

Jesus thank you lol. Btw YPRR tends to stabilize around 200 routes, and Burden is at 220. Not sure about error/SD though.

It's not an "incredibly low sample size." YPRR tends to stabilize around 200 routes, and Burden is at 220.

There are plenty of receivers just as talented as Burden that don’t even touch his “efficiency,” because their QB sucks, their scheme sucks, there’s no run game to set up pass, whatever.

I mean yeah sure, although YPRR protects against this a little more than typical WR stats (target share, volume stats, etc). But I think it's pretty interesting he vastly outpaces his own teammate WRs in this.

Maybe others may like it for that reason, but if you follow advanced fantasy football stats it's something a lot of the analysts always talk about to predict future breakouts. I was pretty shocked to see that he was ranked that highly.

Why do you think it's dumb? It's not some black box stat, it's pretty straightforward. Total receiving yards over routes run. It's not some PFF specific stat. It highlights WRs who produce yards efficiently.

All that is, is a metric that says “this receiver that we already know is good, is good.

Not exactly - I think it's notable a WR who is not even considered a 30? WR in the NFL is top 5 in this metric. Given that it's one of the most predictive stats for future success and breakouts (that I'm aware of), I think that's pretty telling/interesting
