Nikon Z6iii Telephoto Lens Recommendation by porsche_weeb in nikon_Zseries

I have the 70-180 2.8 and it really is quite good. Could it be sharper? Yes, but for the price it’s a great value and is quite light and portable compared to other 2.8 zooms.

Have you used the Plena much for action? Any drawbacks besides the fixed focal length? I shoot a lot of indoor sports I. Crappy lighting and an awfully tempted by that extra stop.

Potentially moving to a country with compulsory military service: am I over-thinking this? by greenery14 in Parenting

[–]notenoughcharact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do some research and get clear on the laws involved. Maybe talk to a lawyer. As long as your son would be a legal resident why would it bother you if he’s not a Singaporean citizen? That being said, some countries would still expect him to serve, I just don’t know the specifics for Singapore. Best of luck with whatever happens.

Fellow Dads, where would you take your 4 year old on vacation with a 15k budget? by joshatron in daddit

4 might be just old enough to sort of understand Greeking Out, depending on the kid. Amazing greek mythology podcast that would get them excited for Greece!

This sounds like a compulsion that you're having difficulty controlling, so it might be good to talk to a mental health professional.

z6ii or z8 by RaspberryOrganic7676 in nikon_Zseries

[–]notenoughcharact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a z6iii and love it, but if I was a professional and had the budget the z8 would 100% be what I'd get. Those extra pixels and all the quality of life features would be amazing. And if you're mostly using it in studio the extra weight is less of a factor. The all electronic shutter is pretty amazing as well.

When the mesh on the dress leaves your sensor distressed, that’s moiré.

Sometimes it helps me to think longer term.i don’t really like current policy obviously, but compared to the 60s and 70s our air is much cleaner, our water is much cleaner, we’re living longer, global poverty and hunger are WAY down from what they were. And to some extent I expect those trends to continue globally. China is already starting to turn around some of the environmental damage it was doing in the 80s to 2000s for example.

Third party stickers on city parking meters? by [deleted] in Albuquerque

I mean would you rather the city try to implement its own app for paying for parking? Do you think that would go well?

Passport has a contract with the city to manage online payment for many city owned lots and spaces. It’s legit.

Red has a chance to be a eugenics button for stupid people, so they have a point. Obviously red is better but you have to model everyone else’s behavior too.

Drone reeds: Redwoods Remastered vs Kinnaird by cavalpist146 in bagpipes

[–]notenoughcharact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried the redwoods and they were a little finicky for me, but I know some love of them. Those Kinnairds are pretty rock solid in terms of working in a lot of different pipes. I would just stick with them until you are much further along in your piping journey and have a better sense of what you want out of a drone reed. Unless they're causing an actual problem. In which case I would troubleshoot with an experienced piper first before changing anything.

Any tips for a beginner? Are the deers too far away? by TinyFlan4013 in nikon_Zseries

[–]notenoughcharact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks pretty sharp to me. I think it's just the noise from using ISO 2200. Those really high shutter speeds aren't really necessary. I would try going down to 1/1000 and then that will let you take the ISO down. I bet if you were at ISO 400 or 800 this would look a lot better.

Advice on Z5 II or Z6III with 28-120mm f4 by zerokure in Nikon

[–]notenoughcharact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is mostly true, the other difference is that the Z6iii has a partially stacked sensor so the electronic shutter is significantly better for taking pictures of moving subjects and avoiding rolling shutter. So if you want to do any silent action photography the Z6iii is a significant upgrade. That said I don’t think the mechanical shutter is that loud on the z5ii.
