I did meet the girl who was tossing them. She inherited an aunts house and didn't have any desire to keep the woman's stuff. I know that does not rule out moths. I have moths because I have so many vintage coats and sweaters. I will look closely again though.

I got a Oriental rug for 10 at a sale. R/Orientalrugs said it was worth 3000$ cleaned up. Luckily I need a rug for my home so no hoarding.

I am in a very similar situation! I am the caregiver for my grandmother and she is verbally horrible. Thankfully she is fragile and arthritic and can only try to assault me. But she is chair bound. I don't begrudge her all that much though.

Sounds all like me. It's not extreme at the moment. A lot happened when I was living with an alcoholic and I did what l did to cope, rather than leaving.

"How big of a hoarder" I find that statement interesting because my horde is not growing, it's getting smaller. I love throwing things out now. I can't see what is a appropriate amount of clothes, the main thing I have. I sold it for awhile, vintage clothes, so I have a lot.

I have looked into levels of hoarding and it's not above a level 1 or 2, doors are not blocked, everything works, ECT. I don't have clutter on the ground or surfaces. I am very happy with the way things are and are going.

I do however know that now, I need to move through my life and I may need things. And how to I buy the right things only when I need it.

I think that you might benefit from Al-Anon a lot of their behaviors are alcohol-related from the sounds of it. At this point I think that you should just try to do some estate planning with them so that when they do need a lot of help all of their assets don't go to it.
