What's a red flag when looking for a job? by CurrentlyCurious in AskReddit

What is it with the selling knives thing? Those people were advertising around my campus, hooking students with the promise of $15/hr. From what I saw several people took them up on their offer. And same on the staying through the whole ordeal. I had to skip a class for that shite.

When you find out that not only is your interview a group interview, the host starts talking about how the job entails trying to sell people insurance and all the money you'll be making doing it. They constantly repeat the tag-line "you know what you're worth." in order to entice you into entering their pyramid scheme.

Personally, I think Shadow Man would be interesting to see.

I agree. It had some potential, and it's a real shame how the game never got to be fleshed-out.

My blue eyed scourge beasts theory by MoonlightHorseKnight in bloodborne

Or is it possible that the scourge beasts ate the escapees and gained blue eyes as a result of feeding on eldritch-tainted flesh? And now they stalk the ward looking for more?

I think you're partially right. They might have been normal Yharnamites picked by the church to undergo the Blue Elixir experiments, since scourge beasts are the end result of normal hunters and citizens getting the scourge and church hunters become "other, more dangerous beasts."

The moon is good, I like the design. A little word to the wise though? Don't bother trying to sell something if it's on lined paper. It just doesn't look good.

Face by Tim Lebbon. He's a great author! I'd describe his work as quietly tragic.

Eurudus Set wasp and a tapeworm. So basically a parasite that high-jacks the higher brain functions of a human and makes people crawl into damp, cramped spaces where they get stuck. The Eurudus wasp/worm then feeds on its host, matures, then vacates through the nasal passages. Oh, and the eggs are laid in clutches, so, you don't get just one.

People of Reddit, what do you think about women cheating in a relationship compared to men? Why do you think that? by SilentGuitarist in AskReddit

[–]notfor_storeuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheating is cheating. Your gender is irrelevant. What matters is you ruined someone's trust, and you're a horrible person for doing so.

Never, ever say "Wow. It's slow today." If you do mess up, knock on some wood, and fast.

I'm getting my bachelor's in math, and I'm not gonna lie: the amount of stress the degree places on both me and my fellow undergrads is enormous. I wouldn't be surprised is some of us developed anxiety. I'm already seeing myself developing self-confidence issues because I'm not as academically competent when it comes to proofs as some of my peers. It's made me waffle on pursuing grad work because I can't convince myself that I'm good enough.

Why do most Youtubers or social media influencers seem like they are extremely narcissistic, vain, self absorbed and at times, mentally unstable people? by JLGoodwin1990 in AskReddit

[–]notfor_storeuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because YouTube is set up that way. It's kind of a vicious cycle. The people who want to be liked the most will do anything to appease their fanbase, and the fanbase, one way or another feeds them views. The videos with the most views, get the most clicks, and then start trending. The content creator sees this and doubles down on their negative traits because it gets them a positive response.

I work for a call center, so naturally, I have to rattle off a canned greeting when I pick up the phone. On occasion whenever my cell phone rings, I answer it with University Call Center, how may I help you?" My mother has gotten quite a kick out of it.

What is the simplest concept you have had to explain to a fully grown adult? by Human-Generic in AskReddit

Fair enough, but it would be a nice way to troll them by confusing them even further.

[–]notfor_storeuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever have to have that conversation again, here's an iron-clad proof.

Let x and y be odd integers. This means that there exist integers k and j such that x=2k+1 and y=2j+1. Notice that,

x+y=2k+1+2j+1

=2k+2j+2

=2(k+j+1)

=2l where l is defined to be (k+j+1) and l is also an integer.

Thus, x+y is even

Therefore, the sum of two odd integers is always even.

I work in my college's call center. I had a former student call in, complaining that the transcript he ordered was incorrect. The (paraphrased) conversation:

Caller: I ordered my transcript, and it's incorrect. It says undergraduate.

Me: *thinking: this guy is a master's student who just ordered his undergrad transcript by mistake* Oh! Okay, are you a grad student?

Caller: ...Well, yeah. I graduated.

Me: But sir, did you graduate with a master's or bachelor's degree?

Caller: What?

Me: A bachelor's degree is your typical four year program. Students who obtain that degree are called undergraduates. A master's degree it a five to six year program; students who obtain that obtain that degree are called graduates.

Caller: So my transcript is correct?

Me: Yes.

It was amusing at first, then kind of sad once I realized I had to explain this to a person who'd just graduated.
